The Heartless Alpha ~ 3

1090 Words
It was now afternoon, Clark had carried his mate to bed, after he had woken up and tried not to wake her up, but she had pulled him back into bed and they snuggled up in their comfortable bed, together. Olivia had finally fallen asleep, Clark had felt so sorry for her over the few months that the girl had been in a coma, because Olivia had never gotten enough sleep at all, always worrying over the girl. Clark had not gotten as much sleep as Olivia did too, but he was happy that his mate was successfully getting some. Begrudgingly, he got up from their bed, not wanting to leave her, but she needed to sleep and stared at her lovingly. He was so lucky to have such a beautiful, funny, caring mate. She loved him and he loved her. Clark was ready to pop the question after many years of being together, but he didn't know if she was ready. But we are technically married? Alex, Clark's wolf, asked confusion clear in his very gruff voice. Clark just shook his head at his wolf. Of course we are technically married. But not to the humans. Clark explained, Alex growled already thinking about how humans he would have to deal with for looking at his mate. Clark chuckled at how possessive his wolf was compared to him. Calm down, Al. Clark snorted at his wolf. As Clark continued his short journey to the where the girl was, he saw Kohen at the other end of the hallway. Clark froze, that threat was still rattling his bones. He remembered his threat so clearly that he wished at that moment he hadn't had opened his big mouth. "If you ever speak of that again, you wouldn't want to know what happens next." The threat echoed in his head. Petrified, Clark wanted to turn around and leave, but it was too late, Kohen had already noticed him and motioned for him to come to him. Clark shivered, a chill running down his spine. He didn't know what Kohen wanted to talk about, but he hoped it wasn't anything to do with Kohen's mate. "Clark? Let's have a little chat. We haven't caught up in a long time." Kohen smirked, as his best friend's widened. Kohen knew that his threat had gotten to him, but Kohen wasn't going to do anything to him...yet. Or at all. "Buddy, long time no see. How's my sister?" Kohen asked, wanting to know how Clark was treating his sister, Olivia. Clark feebly, nodded. His fear wasn't letting him to talk. "Hey, Clark?" Kohen stopped in front of his best friend. Kohen didn't look so bad, even after sleepless night's, because of his stupid mate, being near him. Kohen wanted to kill her, but his wolf wasn't letting that happen. Since they had slightly met, the mate bond had grown stronger, and it didn't help that it had grown much more, since she is healing more than ever. Kohen wanted to scowl at how stupid Clark was, but he held himself. As an Alpha he had to be professional and serious. He was always professional and serious. That's one thing that Clark hated. Clark was never professional and serious. He had fun unlike Kohen, but Clark knew why. Not after the incident five years ago. Kohen was mentally and physically scarred for life. That incidence was something never to be talked about. "Clark? You spaced out for a bit." Kohen frowned, his thick dark eyebrows furrowed in confusion, slightly nibbling on his bottom lip, a habit of his, eyeing Clark. Kohen wasn't sure what to do or with Clark. "Y-yeah....I'm good.." Clark trailed off, his thoughts once again trying to consume his mind, but with a little shake of his head, he pushed them to the back of his mind. Was Kohen mad about him basically admitting something so serious? Was Kohen going kill Clark? Clark tried to get rid of that last thought. Kohen wouldn't go that far because of a little mistake. Clark gave a tiny shake to clear the thoughts even though, they were racing through his mind. No he wouldn't ever kill his best friend, right? Again, Clark's thoughts invaded his whole mind; Will Kohen abandon his mate? What will Kohen do to his mate? Surely, he won't lay a hand on her, no matter their situation. Kohen's not like that. In all of Clarks years of knowing Kohen and even going through the tragic incident five years ago, Clark felt guilty for even thinking that Kohen would abuse his mate. "Clark?! Clark!" Kohen gritted out, his teeth grinding out of anger. Kohen was not a patient man. For an Alpha he sure does have a lot of patience. Alex, Clark's wolf chuckled, sarcasm dripping from his statement. Clark cracked a small grin, but it faded once he snapped out of his invading, dark thoughts, as he looked up to see Kohen fuming. Red - faced too. What's got him so worked up. "Yeah, man?" Clark replied, shoving his hands in his pocket, looking everywhere but at Kohen. He rocked on the bottom of his heels, clicking his tongue, lightly. "We were talking and then you completely ignored me?!" Kohen, stared at his friend, his eyes cold, hard and flat. No other emotion except for anger. Clark, frowned, which made him look older than he was. "Sorry, I've got a lot of things on my mind." That was the only thing that Clark could say. nothing else had come to his mind. Kohen rolled his eyes, and gazed at his best friend, taking in his tired features. His eyes were dull, but they still had their shine in it probably because of Olivia and he had lacked sleep, as you can clearly see under his eyes were, purple - black bags. And the frown that was etched on his lips, made Kohen worry about his friend. Clark was looking older than Kohen. "Hey? Clark? You alright?" Kohen, rested a hand upon his distant - looking friend. Clark plastered a small grin that didn't reach his eyes and nodded, "Yeah. Want to go watch a movie, like the old times?" Clark asked. His was bored out his mind especially since Olivia was sleeping. Kohen grinned, his eyes lighting up at 'old times'," Sure, buddy. But after we are having a looong chat." Now, Clark liked this side of Kohen. The happy, unserious, caring, loving, funny Kohen. Not the serious, hard, cold beast he was now.
