Needing Her

~Kael~ I woke to the sound of movement near the front door. As my eyes adjusted, I saw Darius dragging an almost unconscious man into my living room, blood trailing behind him in a dark path. “What the hell is this?” I snapped, still groggy as I stood up from the bed. The wounds on my body still burned like fire, but I pushed through the pain. Darius replied. “I caught him lurking around. Probably spying on you.” “Is that so?” I didn’t move toward Darius immediately. Instead, I walked to the kitchen, poured myself a large glass of water, and drank it in one long gulp. The sun poured through the windows, bathing the living room in light as if mocking the situation. “Wake him up,” I commanded. Darius kicked the man in the stomach. "Ah—!" The man’s scream echoed, piercing the air.
