My Evelyn and Ana were still missing. And despite Kael’s dramatic return yesterday, I knew—knew in my bones—it was him who took them. Only he could’ve done it. Reckless, volatile, undisciplined. He had done it as a punishment or as a warning. One of them, my two ladies, had dared to send someone to kill Lyra and the pup she carried. I hadn’t even had time to investigate which one had done that before Kael had taken them all away. He should’ve waited. Just a little longer.
