~Lyra~ Jace continued down the winding road, steering the car toward unfamiliar territory. “Jace,” I said calmly, trying to mask the panic rising in my throat, “Are you kidnapping me for money? How much do you want?” I needed to understand his motive. But he didn’t answer. Just glanced at me through the rear-view mirror. I shifted slightly, inching my fingers toward the seat-belt buckle beside me, my voice softening. “Please. Whoever sent you—they did not consider what this means.” His jaw tightened. Breathing roughened. Guilt flickered in his eyes. Then he spoke, voice hollow. “When you meet the Moon Goddess… tell her I did what I had to. You can curse my name all you want.” My chest tightened. “You’re going to kill me?” Not just a kidnapping. But a murder. Panic clawed at me now
