The wedding began not long after. I sat among the guests, applauding politely as the bride and her bridesmaids made their grand entrance.
But Kaelis… was nowhere in sight.
A strange prickle danced behind my eye. My eyelid twitched. I leaned toward the bodyguards at my side. “Can you locate Kaelis?”
They did a quick scan. Shook their heads. Nothing.
Changing clothes won't take this long.
A quiet unease unfurled in my chest. I grabbed my clutch and slipped out.
My bodyguards and me searched everywhere. Every hallway, every dressing room, the perimeter. Still nothing.
“Maybe she left?” one bodyguard suggested.
I frowned. “She wouldn’t. Not after traveling from human territory just to vanish before the wedding.”
It didn’t add up.
