*TRIGGER WARNING: tough situation ahead*
Grey's POV
People enjoy the party throughout the day. It was a casual event, which I didn't mind. I think the decor and food could have been better, but it was nice to relax and laugh with some friends. A few of our unmated found their mates and were off to help them pack. Everyone that got mated to one of our own chose to come live in our pack. Like usual. I could see the desperate hope in the eyes of pack members of Hushed Moon. You could tell they were hoping someone would come whisk them away from here. It was very telling. Then it hit me again. At some point, more tables were set up out front for people. I am guessing they underestimated all the people that would come today. I eventually ventured out front to see what was going on there. I think I saw my Beta go this way with some girls earlier. I was getting bored at this point and didn't even want to drink anymore. As I walked outside the front, I made my way to the right to relax and scan the crowd. Every once in a while a wind would pass through ruffling the tablecloths. Then a strong wind kicked up a faint scent of the ocean again and twirled it around me, so I didn't know which direction it came from. That is when my wolf and I realized why we kept smelling this scent linger in random places. It isn't a candle.
Mate! Duke says in my head.
Our mate is here somewhere. I search the crowd for Mace and see he is talking to a few she-wolves. If he found his mate, I would know by now. I guess he is just trying to have a fun night tonight. Feeling my stare, he found my eyes. I nodded to my side, signaling for him to come over. Reluctantly, he leaves his company and makes his way over to me.
"What's up, Grey?" Mace asks looking at my concerned face.
"I can smell her Mace. I smell my mate. She is somewhere around here. I keep picking up this faint ocean scent." I whisper to him as I pull him into a corner. His eyes go wide in surprise and excitement.
"I am happy for you man. Where is she?" Mace questions, now looking around the crowd.
"I don't know. I am guessing it is someone who works here. The smell is faint, as if they haven't been here in a few hours now. It was strongest in the lobby, so follow me there to see if we can find her." I whispered as I started walking towards the building with my Beta right next to me.
Before we made it into the building, my arm is yanked back and "Luna" Claire draped her arms around my arm. Her cheeks are flushed from the alcohol, and she is unsteady on her feet. She pushed her low-cut dress into me so her boobs are pressed against my arm and practically popping out. She looks at me in what she thinks are my eyes and tries to gaze at me seductively.
"Where are you going, Alpha? If you want, I could show you around the house. My room is especially interesting." She says in a not so quiet whisper, and giving me the worst wink in human history. I think her brain short-circuited in the middle of it. I do everything not to gag at this hideous site and notice many eyes are on us. Thankfully, Alpha Cas comes out of the doors behind us.
"Alpha Cas, perfect timing. I think your Luna has had a little too much to drink and may need help inside. She is hanging on my Alpha and making things out here a little uncomfortable." Mace says, saving my ass from this leech.
"Oh, um, I am so sorry. I don't know what has gotten into her. Here let me take her inside and to bed." Alpha Cas sputters out as he roughly grabs his Luna from me. He looks annoyed at her, as he should.
Now that the atmosphere is dampened, many people start to get in their vehicles and head back to their hotels. From the sounds of it, there isn't anyone in the back of the building anymore either. At this point, it is past midnight, and I am thankful it was a short party. I'm guessing they didn't have money for a longer party. Even though they look well off, my sources have told me they are actually in a lot of debt. Oh well, looking at my Beta, I nod for us to head into the building.
As soon as the doors open, I am hit with that Ocean smell again. My wolf goes crazy in my head and my eyes go black for a brief moment. "She was just here," I tell Mace.
"I can smell that ocean smell you were saying. It is faint for me, but I smell it. I think it heads through that door there." Mace points to a door off to the side of the lobby.
I can smell it coming from there strongly as well. Opening the door only confirms it, as I stare into a dark old stone stairwell. Without hesitation, I descended the stairs. We end up in a hallway made of stone. It looks like the remnants of the old pack house they must have built over. I can see having some rooms for storage and some maid's quarters for ones who are being disciplined, maybe. I would never let my pack live in this hellhole. I follow the scent down a long hallway and pass by a room that smells like the Ocean. Peaking in I can see it is just a laundry room, so I continue to follow the scent down a different hallway.
I am almost to the end of another hallway to a light source I see at the end. It is far inside and there aren't any other rooms down this hallway. When we get a few feet from the door I hear "SLAP" and freeze. My Beta and I halt and just listen. I hear what sounds like whimpering and clothes rustling around. I hear another sound that sounds like someone punching someone else, followed by a whimper and more crying sounds.
"Now shut up and be a good girl and taste this d**k. If I feel any teeth I will knock them out." I hear an unknown male voice say.
Looking at my Beta, we know that something isn't right and someone is not willing right now. We make our way to the makeshift door and barge into the room. I am greeted with a man's ass and a girl leaning against the far wall. I don't need to be a rock scientist to see what he is trying to make the girl on the bed do. He is shirtless with his pants around his ankles. He has a beautiful girl gripped by her face towards his sad excuse for a p***s. I can tell by the smell she is MY mate. In a fit of rage, I yank him off of her and throw him against the other wall. The unknown woman screeches and lunges forward but Mace pushes her back. I don't pay much attention as I look at my beautiful mate. She has the most unique white hair I have ever seen and I see the palest blue eyes get hidden under her drooping eyes. She is a little malnourished but she still has amazing curves. It's hard to tell under the rags she is wearing. I don't think they can even be called clothes. I lift her into my arms and notice her soft plump lips that are chapped form into a smile as she snuggles into me slightly. That makes me wolf howl in my head with approval. Turning around, I storm off down the hall, Mace on my heels. The other two people stumble out of the room shouting after us. I ignore them and race out of that musty basement.
Reaching the car I jump in the back with her on my lap resting. She fainted at some point when I picked her up and now she is sleeping. Something, by the looks of it, she doesn't get much of. Mace is outside shouting with the Alpha now and telling him what happened. I can't believe the Alpha is standing up for those two perverted jerks. I mind link all my pack members in the area to hurry up and return to the bus immediately and to bring their new mates. Within minutes, the bus is ready and full of people. I felt bad that goodbyes had to be cut short, but I needed to get out of there. Jumping in the car, Mace speeds off to our hotel.
"I can't believe the asshole stood up for those perverts. I don't know why, but he kept trying to tell me you couldn't take her with you. Even after I said she was your mate, so too bad so sad. The f*****g nerve. I am DEFINITELY calling the council to investigate them now." Mace ranted in the front.
I just nodded and stared down at the angel on my lap. Her beautiful and thick white hair cascaded around her. She is so petite and fragile-looking. She has to be maybe 5'3. She does have a little curve to her hips. Given what we just witnessed I felt guilty looking, but my god she has a huge chest. "I can't wait until she warms up to me and I get to handle those." I think to myself. My wolf agrees and so does the b***r in my pants. "Now is not the time. I have to cover her up". I think again. Taking my suit jacket off, I wrap her in it. It helps cover her, so I don't stare, but barely.
"Hey, Mace!" I say calmly with a little smirk on my face.
"What's up, Grey?" He says, clearly still annoyed at what just happened.
"We have our Luna." I say with a big grin plastered across my face. Mace looks in the mirror to see how big I am cheesing it right now. He instantly calms down and perks up.
"Oh yea, that's right. We finally have our Luna. I am so happy for you man." Mace says as he focuses back on the road.
"Thanks, man!" I mumble as I just spend the rest of the car ride to the hotel staring at my mate.
