I heard his deep voice from behind. I could sense the surprise written on Alpha's face the minute he heard Axios's voice from behind him.
Axios hasn't shifted yet, but his eyes are as pitch black as darkness itself. He slowly stepped out from behind the tree and walked toward us, I can't tell for how long he had been hiding behind the tree but it seems he heard all Alpha said.
"Axios!" he said as he turned around to meet him, but Axios punched him in the face, and he staggered back a little, regaining composure before he fell on the floor.
"Oooh" I screamed out the instant he hit him in the face and ran to a corner. It wasn't expected as he didn't show any sign of anger.
Alpha spat out saliva and blood from his mouth. He touched his lips with his hand and checked them to see if he was still bleeding.
"Bloody hell" he blurted out.
"Nice welcome"
"I'm not one for welcome parties; this is a warning," Axios snapped at him. His eyes are still as dark as you can imagine.
"Marking your territory already," Alpha said as he quietly moved back. As if he was already surrendering but if I know that cunning bastard well, he won't concede so quickly.
"What are you doing in this part of the woods? It's a long way from home." Axios asked him, his gaze still fixed on him but this time his eyes were no longer dark but gray.
"Hunting"
They were still talking when Alpha's men, numbering 15, came out to meet us in the woods, carrying guns and other weapons for the said hunting. Although I was kind of wondering what they could be hunting this far from home. I instantly became scared, but I tried masking it as everyone was on edge.
"Happy hunting with your minions, but please avoid this part of the woods," Axios said, sitting right back on the piece of cloth on the floor.
"Amb, come on," he said, waving at me to come over and sit right back. I was reluctant at first as I didn't trust Alpha or his minions, for f***s sake he is the reason why I'm here in the first place. I went to him and sat right next to him.
I was still talking with Axios when one of Alpha's men tried shooting him from behind.
Within a twinkling of an eye, Axios was no longer sitting close to me. I was confused wondering if he had teleported out of the woods or what, but the cry of one of Alpha's men made me turn around.
I was shocked to see Axios beating him up, and within a twinkling of an eye, he was snuffing the life out of him. Immediately the lifeless body of the guard hit the floor. Axios grabbed me and ran with me. Alpha's men shot at us nonstop, and neither did Axios stop running. When he noticed they would catch up with him, he quickly hid me in between two rocks.
"Apply mud on your body to cover your scent," he said, before dashing off to meet them.
I watched as he changed into what I had never seen before; his clothes tore in shreds as he continued increasing in size.
He didn't shift into a wolf this time; but into a hairy monster, his face was hairy and mangled up, but he was huge, bearing two horns on his forehead, and his eyes were pitch black.
I quickly buried my hand into the mud he showed me earlier and applied it generously to my body.
"Ahhh," the screams made me look up, only to see one of Alpha's screaming in the air as Axios flung him. His scream stopped the moment his body hit a tree and he fell to the ground with his head bashed in. They didn't stop charging towards him, and Axios didn't relent in killing them.
"Silver bullets." I heard Alpha scream at his men; they quickly changed their bullets to silver ones and began shooting at him, but Axios continued killing them one after another. Till it was remaining only the Alpha and two of his men.
Alpha quickly shifted while he kept shooting at Axios; it was their best chance at killing him if only they could; engaging him in one-on-one combat would only get them killed a lot quicker.
One of his men found his way and plunged a silver dagger into his back. Axios screamed out, and I decided to come out of my hiding place and kill them all.
I was about to step out of my hideout when I heard screams again. I was surprised to see Axios still standing while one of the gunmen was on the floor, whimpering in pain while the other's heart was ripped out.
Alpha quickly ran away the minute he knew he was next in line, leaving two of his men wounded men, Axios went close to one of the wounded men whimpering on the ground, and dug his claw in, slitting his throat.
I came out of my hideout and went to him. I touched him from behind, and he quickly snapped, grabbing me by the throat.
"Ax.... " I tried calling out but couldn't as his grip on my neck was too tight.
I hit his hands a couple of times, but it was fruitless as his grip tightened.
He suddenly clutched his heart and let go of me, and I fell to the floor, breathing hard while clutching my throat and distancing myself from him.
He fell to the floor, pulled off the dagger stuck in his back, and blood gushed out. He winced in pain as he slowly shifted back to his human form.
He looked at me as I sat on the floor, breathing hard, and my neck was as red as f**k.
"Amb!" he screamed, advancing towards me, but I immediately got off the floor and moved backward.
"Stay away from me!" I screamed, running away out of the woods and towards the house. I stole a glance at him, and he stood transfixed in a spot, looking at me as I ran.
I didn't know how to react to all this, but the only way I could react was to run for my life.
When I got inside the house, there was no one there. I went into Axios's room, panting. I stood before a mirror to access my neck, and I could see his finger imprint on my neck.
I sat on the floor, crying my eyes out, while wondering what just happened out there. I didn't know when I slowly drifted off to sleep.
I woke up when I felt someone's hand on my body. I slowly opened my eyes, and upon realizing who touched me, my eyes widened, and I immediately jerked off the floor.
"Stay away!" I screamed out.
"Please, Amb, Amb, I didn't mean to hurt you, please, Amber," he gently said. His eyes were that of a wounded beast, and his voice was that of a broken man.
But I wasn't convinced anyway; no offense, but he nearly killed me a few moments ago in the woods.
"Please, Amb, please just hear me out," he said. I didn't know what to do as I stood there watching him like a hawk. He slowly pulled off his shirt and turned around to bare his back.
"What the..." I tried screaming
"Yeah, it's true," he said, cutting me off and beckoning on me to come closer to him. I was scared and reluctant to get any closer to him.
"Please, Amber, do you want to tie me up to be comfortable around me, you can if you want to," He asked me, pointing at a rope on the bed.
I looked from him to the rope, then back to him. I guess he must have placed it there while I was asleep.
I slowly moved towards him, still scared as f**k but wanting to hear him out this one last time.
I got closer to him, and to be honest, I was lost for words watching his body all healed up. He turned around, and for the very first time, I saw another scar on his chest. I had seen him bare-chested a couple of times but I had never seen that scar before, maybe because I was too focused on eating him raw.
I could swear that whoever plunged that dagger in there wanted him dead, as I'm sure it went straight into his heart.
"What happened to you out there" I asked him
"I'm sorry I snapped for a second and when I finally regained myself, I was gripping you by the throat" he tried explaining, he was already bashing himself up for that and I didn't want to add to that.
It didn't make sense to me that he could heal silver-inflicted wounds, his body was as good as new except for the scar of course.
"I thought silver was like poison to wolves," I asked him, confused.
"Silver doesn't poison me."
