Vico was the kind of guy who preferred keeping his distance from the family. It wasn’t that he didn’t care. It was just that staying connected often felt like a chore. So, his phone rang one night at nearly midnight. He knew something was up.
It was Leo… calling him was always a significant event.
“Hello, my brother,” Vico answered, his words a bit slurred as he tried to keep his inebriation in check.
“Where are you?” Leo’s tone was clipped.
“Near the center. Why?” Vico replied.
“I need a favor,” Leo said urgently. Vico was taken aback. It was rare for Leo to reach out like this.
“It’ll cost you,” Vico said, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“Are you going to do it or not?” Leo said, barely containing his irritation.
“What’s the favor?” Vico pressed.
