Sophia's flight back to Colorado was already booked, her bags packed and waiting. Today’s ceremony was supposed to mark the end of this chapter of her life, a return to the way things were before everything had changed.
As she watched Vico walk down the red carpet, the delicate strains of a violin filling the air, Sophia’s thoughts drifted to the wedding she had once imagined for the two of them. It was hard to focus on that dream, though, as Bella appeared at the other end of the aisle. She was dressed like a princess, her gown so white it was almost blinding. Bella’s smile was radiant, but it made Sophia’s chest tighten painfully.
