Chapter 4

The chauffeur stepped in. "Celine is the heiress of the Blake family. Mr. Hart, you've crossed the line." Owen pointed at him. "Who the hell do you think you are? What gives you the right to talk to me? One call from me, and you'll be looking for a new job." I snorted, "Then go ahead. See for yourself." Owen froze, watching helplessly as I got into the car with the chauffeur. He shouted after me, "Celine, you've been conned! He's not some rich man. You'll regret this!" I didn't bother looking back. My mind was already working out how to make Owen pay. The next day, news broke online that Owen and Lydia were getting married. I scrolled for a while before tossing my phone aside in disgust. Every post was another video of them flaunting their so-called love. My mom walked in with a glass of milk. "Celine, don't let this get to you. I had no idea Lydia would treat you like this. I'll make sure she pays for it." I said quietly, "Mom, Owen hit me yesterday." Her face darkened. "I'm going to visit the Hart family right now and demand an explanation." I quickly grabbed her arm. "Wait. Let's wait until after their wedding." Seeing the truth with his own eyes would hit harder than anything I could tell him. Owen didn't believe I was the Blake Group heiress, so I would let him find out for himself who the real Blake Group heiress was. There were still two days until Owen's wedding. During that time, he kept bombarding me with messages. Owen: Celine, don't be so ungrateful. Stay with me and you'll still live a good life. Otherwise, who else is going to want you? Owen: If you agree, I'll give you $7,500 a month. That's still better than working for a living. I didn't reply to a single message. Meanwhile, Lydia kept flaunting their relationship on f*******:, showing off the expensive gifts Owen bought her. Every single one cost more than anything he had ever spent on me. It was as if showing off the price tags could somehow prove she had beaten me. Once, she "accidentally" sent me a photo of one of the gifts, then sent me an apology when it was too late to delete it. Lydia: Sorry, I sent that to you by mistake. It's all Owen's fault. He keeps buying me things I don't even want. Did he ever give you anything like this? I fired back with a screenshot of the messages Owen had sent me. Lydia lost her cool almost instantly. She sent me a voice message. "Celine, Owen was only interested in you for a while. I'm the one he loves!" If Lydia was so confident, why had she fallen apart so quickly? I didn't reply. After that, Lydia went noticeably quiet until her wedding day finally arrived. I went with my parents, but I never expected to run into Lydia outside the venue. She was dressed in an extravagant wedding gown, looking visibly on edge. Of course she was. Her secret was about to blow up in her face, and she was terrified my parents would expose her. Lydia's voice trembled. "Dad, Mom, you're finally here! I need to tell you something." Owen stepped forward, about to greet my parents, when he spotted me standing beside them. "Celine? What are you doing here? Have you no shame? I don't love you. Today is the wedding between the Hart family and the Blake family. Don't even think about ruining it." No wonder Lydia had been so on edge all morning. My parents were furious and were about to speak. Lydia hurriedly cut in. "Owen, don't get angry. Let's get Mom and Dad inside first." Her eyes were pleading. She wanted my parents to spare her some dignity. She wasn't worried about Owen's love for her. She was worried about the rest of the Hart family. What if Owen found out she was a fake and refused to marry her? Owen swallowed his anger. "Let's go inside first. The wedding is about to start." But my parents only looked at him with contempt. My mom let out a cold laugh. "Hold on. Since when did I have a son-in-law like you?" Owen froze, completely baffled. Then my mom added, "We have only one daughter. Her name is Celine Blake."
