“Come in,” Evelyn said. The door opened, and Nathan entered the hospital room carrying a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a basket of fruit in the other. Lydia looked at him in surprise, clearly not expecting to see him here. Evelyn wore the same expression. “What are you doing here?” she asked, setting her phone down on the bed. Nathan quietly closed the door behind him before walking further into the room. He placed the basket of fruit on the table, then approached Evelyn’s bedside with the bouquet still in his hand. “I felt bad about what happened yesterday, so I came to see how you were doing,” he said, handing her the flowers. Evelyn accepted the bouquet with a small smile. “Thank you, Nathan. But you really didn’t have to. It wasn’t your fault. It was just an honest mistake.
