For the briefest moment, Evelyn forgot where she was. Across the crowded banquet hall, her eyes remained locked on Damien. The sounds of conversations around her seemed to fade into the background, leaving only the two of them standing silently amidst the sea of guests. Her heart skipped and almost immediately, she looked away. She didn't want him catching her staring at him. Trying to distract herself, Evelyn slipped her phone out of her purse and unlocked it. Her fingers moved across the screen absentmindedly, but her attention wasn't on it. Every few seconds, her gaze drifted back toward him.
