Alina’s POV,
My vision blurred.
Tears gathered so fast my eyes stung. My throat tightened until I could barely swallow. What was happening? What was she doing up there?
“A–Aria?” Edrick’s voice came from beside me, low, confused, concerned. “What is your sister doing?”
“I… I don’t know.” My voice cracked. “I swear, Edrick, I have no idea.”
My hands were shaking on my lap. I could hardly breathe as Aria raised the microphone to her lips again.
“Good evening, everyone,” she said sweetly, calmly, like she wasn’t about to blow my world apart.
Everyone turned toward the stage. All eyes. All ears.
“We are gathered here to celebrate Mr. Vale’s regained health,” Aria continued, placing a hand over her heart. “May God protect him and keep him strong.”
She bowed her head dramatically.
