Chapter 35

1538 Words

She wasn’t coming. The realization sat like a block of lead in his gut. Ulric stood at his bedroom window, crossed his arms over his chest, and stared at the dark sky outside. He had been waiting for hours, every second dragging into the next at an agonizing snail’s pace. But now the sliver of hope he had held on to slipped away as he realized she wasn’t coming as he had asked. His wolf, who had been agitated since he had found Andrea with Jules in the hallway, urged Ulric to seek her out and drag her to his room by her hair if necessary. But he couldn’t do that. Agitated and fully aware that he wouldn’t be getting any sleep tonight, Ulric suddenly turned away from the window and made his way out of his room. He was barely two steps out the door when he heard slow, hesitant footsteps.
