The flames were high. They looked like they were touching the sky. Shades of red and yellow fire poured out of the broken windows and doors. Dark smoke filled the air, obscuring the last traces of the sky. Screams and shouts of desperation combined with the crackles and pops of the raging fire. It was all too much. She was too late. Andrea’s chest squeezed. She couldn’t breathe, even though she couldn’t smell the smoke.
