The Huntsman and the BeastThe huntsman was disgusted with himself. The evil queen had ordered him to kill Snow White, and he had actually meant to obey the command. He had taken the girl out into the woods, in his trance-like state. The girl plainly knew she was in danger. She begged him to keep her safe, to spare her life. He got her into the deep woods and had drawn his knife. She saw and turned a ghostly white and had actually kneeled to accept a death-blow. He had lost his nerve at that point or recovered his sense, or a bit of both. She was completely innocent and helpless. Everything he knew about good and evil pushed itself into his mind.
