MY BOYFRIEND’S BROTHER IS INTO ME?

1715 Words
It was a dim room, lit by a single candle and made odorous with the assistance of the incense sticks which exuded lavender fragrance. Besides a run-down bed, there weren’t many articles present in that room, for my husband happened to be an omega, the lowest in rank in his pack and couldn’t afford a lot of things. Though he lacked most of the comforts that could be easily provided by the others, there was his devoted heart which was filled with boundless affection for me, and hence I felt no scruples when I had walked down the aisle to begin a life on this fair planet with him. Since that day, our days together had been filled with incomparable exuberance, which made us oblivion to the fact that everything that has a beginning is bound to end as well. Unlike the numerous days I had spent inside this very room with my husband, I didn’t get the chance to share this bed with him today, for the man lying beside me was my enemy, the father of my children and the Alpha of our pack, Asmodeus Knight. With my wrists and ankles chained to the bed, there was hardly anything that I could do to this monster who’d brutally murdered my husband, Leander Hatzi. Since I had been living as a captive after my husband’s untimely demise, my days commenced and concluded with the same pleading, “Give me back my pearl, Asmodeus!” Even when I incessantly kept demanding my freedom which rested in that black pearl which my enemy had usurped from my husband, my captor indefatigably kept refusing me of the same, something he blamed on his deep-rooted affection for me, which I highly doubted, because he would’ve never robbed me of everything that I held dear if he’d really loved me. Not just his unwillingness to let go of me, but there were a number of other atrocities he’d inflicted which made me certain that the professed affection was a cover for his deviousness which prompted him to seek pleasure in watching me suffer., and hence I tried to purposely shorten the duration of the time in which I used to see him by fighting him back whenever he’d tried getting closer, but this couldn’t last for long, as I was shortly trammelled. With the dusk, it will be three weeks now since I’d been shackled and taken against my will, which had been the reason for my swollen belly. Sharing no fondness for the child which had been growing steadily in my womb, I decided to forsake my own life, a desire that was left unfulfilled because I was never left alone to act on it. ~End of dream sequence~ Startled by what I’d heard in my dream for the third night straight, my restlessness and fear heightened when I’d looked around to see that I had woken up in a foreign bed, something I knew I would get in trouble for. Somehow fighting the pain from the unfortunate dispute with my aunt, I pulled myself out of this bed to leave. But once I was on my feet, the whole room began to spin, inducing me to grab my head and take refuge in the stranger’s bed again, a fall to which caused enough sound to alert anyone who could’ve been around, fetching me the very person I’d killed to avoid, Kai Knight, the older brother of my boyfriend. “You shouldn’t have woken up from the bed. The injury on your head will require you to take some extra time to recuperate,” informed the class rep, which I shouldn’t have called him anymore, for I was almost done with high school and so was he. Though my head was muddled with several questions, I ask the most obvious one, “Why did you bring me here? Didn’t you say you’d drop me to my place?” “I tried, but your wretched aunt just wouldn’t open the door,” responded Kai, sitting on a chair adjacent to my bed. “Also, you’ve slept through the entire afternoon, mumbling some unintelligible names and crying for help. What was that all about?” “Just nightmares,” I said, unwilling to share the details of it. “As much as I remembered, my aunt said that we needed to be somewhere, and hence I find it rather baffling for her to neither let us inside nor open the door.” “I knocked for as long as five minutes, but nobody came to answer”, revealed Kai, unafraid of mouthing his frustrations as usual. “From how I’d seen her interact with you in the afternoon, she seemed a bit capricious. She attended you warmly in front of my brother, but then got really upset when you were alone,” “I cannot not argue against, for it isn’t entirely true. Trust me when I say that I truly believe you need more than a fifteen minute interaction to judge someone more aptly,” I proposed, grabbing the bed’s headboard to get myself to sit erect. “Is that what you always do to keep people away from finding out the abuse of that insufferable lady,” asked Kai, certain that this afternoon wasn’t the first time she’d mistreated me. Cognisant of the dangers that lie in anybody ever finding out about the distorted relationship that I shared with my aunt, I had to resort to lying and so I spoke, “It happened for the very first time today. She must’ve gotten anxious over not being at home on time, and might’ve accidentally pushed me because of the same.” “If what you claim happens to be true, then can you explain the bruise on your knee? Did you perhaps fall?” questioned Kai sceptically, tapping his finger lightly at the swollen area. Wincing, I demanded him to get his hand off me, which was done after offering an unsolicited advice, “I know your aunt is mistreating you. Now that you’re almost an adult, you should leave your home and settle in a different country to pursue your studies.” Even though I never allow anybody to discuss my business with me, I revealed to him, suffering a pang of frustration, “I can’t do that, as it would require for me to leave my father behind.” Instead of offering the sympathy that such a circumstance may require, he chuckled, insisting I was a ‘silly girl’. Turning crimson, I covered my face, complaining that he was too fiendish, something I’d said to slight him, but it only added to his joys as tears developed in his eyes from laughing too much, something I hadn’t considered him capable of. Clearly aware of how I could no longer entertain this insensitive nit, I demanded to see his brother, “Could you call Tobias?” “He isn’t here,” responded the older brother, shifting to the bed. “I do not live with my family.” Panicked from discovering how I wasn’t only alone with this guy in his bedroom, but also in the entire building, I hesitatingly asked him, “Can I call my father? He must be worried sick about me.” “Sure,” permitted Kai, passing me my phone from the bedside table. As if things couldn’t have gotten any grimmer, there was no network in my phone, and hence I had to turn to Kai for assistance, “Could you lend me your phone? Mine’s out of service.” “So is mine. This place doesn’t get network, which is why I rented it,” affirmed the older brother, smiling, as if pleased to see me stressed and despondent. “You could’ve told me that sooner,” I cry out in disappointment. Having generated an idea of the chaos seething within me, the older knight brother tried to calm me down by telling me how his family doctor would soon be around to take a look at me. If the doctor were to find nothing wrong with me and could permit me to leave, then he would take me back to my place. “You don’t have to do this for me. After all, we’re not even friends,” I said, overwhelmed by the unusual kindness and amiability exhibited by the otherwise buttoned-up guy. Sitting next to me, unbothered by the fact that I happened to be his younger brother’s girlfriend, he asked me, “Does your father know about the abuse?” Shaking my head, I revealed, “I tried telling him once, but my aunt punished me harshly for it, and so I never did it again.” “What did she do?” asked the guy further, presumably wanting to elongate our tête-à-tête. “Beat me up with a thick log, and then told my father I’d tripped down a valley,” I divulged in a shaky voice, conjuring unintentionally the pain from such a long time ago as it would’ve happened just yesterday in the process. Concentrating on the injury on my knee, he declared, “I used to trip a lot as well as a child, or so my mother thought whenever my father had beaten me up.” Inadvertently, my worrisome eyes offer him a pitiful look, which leaves him too flushed to share any more of whatever he was going to discuss with me, which for reasons unknown left me a little disappointed, for I believed I could’ve somehow assisted him by lending him an ear just how he’d helped me. That gratuitous remorse was the very reason for being caught off-guard when he’d suddenly gotten too close for comfort. “What are you trying to do, Kai Knight? I am your brother’s girlfriend,” I uttered while trying to push him off of me. “No, you’re her,” declared Kai, probably to confuse me before pressing his lips against mine. His left hand rested on my cheek and the right one behind my head, making it impossible for me to move. Unsure of his reasons for devouring my mouth like this, my addled head could only conjure but one reason for this indecency. Maybe my boyfriend's brother is into me.
