I laid there on the ground, covered in blood. I felt pain radiating through my body. I couldn’t help but think to myself “am I dying?” I was sure of it. Then I started to feel tingling in my toes. The kind you feel when your foot starts to fall asleep.
The tingling coursed through my body, taking away all the pain. Leaving with it, a numbness. I looked to my left and seen Mel laying there a few feet from me. She wasn’t moving. I looked to the right and seen Jesse. He began to rise to his feet, he looked at me, and sprinted towards the forest.
I sat up and ran to Mel. I dropped to my knees beside her and started shaking her. Tears started pouring out of my eyes as I called out her name, but Mel did not move.
***Willow***
Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep buzzed my arm, as I shoved my right arm onto my nightstand. Fumbling my hand around, trying to find my alarm clock. Finally finding it, I pushed the button. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, and glanced at the clock. 6:30 AM, and with that I climbed out of bed. I walked down the hallway to the bathroom. As I got closer, I noticed it was occupied, so I began knocking. My little sister yells “give me a minute!” A couple minutes goes by and she comes out, we exchange eye rolls.
As I finish up in the bathroom, a knock on the door happens, followed by my little brother “Willow don’t use all the hot water!” I finished getting ready and headed down the hallway. I stoped in my room, grabbing my backpack, heading towards the hallway, and down the stairs. I make my way around the corner to the kitchen. As I walk in the kitchen, I see my little sister at the table, my older brother at the table, dad is at the end with a news paper and cup of coffee in hand, and mom is making breakfast.
I reached for an apple on the counter and turned to head towards the hallway. My mom stops and asks “aren’t you going to have breakfast?” “I can’t, I have to get to school early!” I replied. My parents exchange glances, and dad puts down his newspaper and coffee cup. “You know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day” my mom replies.”I know, I just have to get to the lab this morning and finish this project.” And with that I head towards the door.
I fumbled the keys out of my pocket and headed towards my car parked in the driveway, and headed towards school. I arrived at the school a few minutes later. The parking lot was nearly empty as school didn’t start for another 45 minutes. I grabbed my bag and headed towards the building. As I was walking towards the door, I noticed a black cat on the stairs, looking in my direction. As I got closer, he did not move. It seemed as though he was staring at me.
I reached the steps and entered the building. I headed to the right and down the hallway towards the lab. I felt a shiver run down my back and I turned around, but nobody was behind me. I turned back around and jumped, followed with a scream. There stood the most handsome guy I’ve ever seen before standing in front of me. I instantly turned red. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you standing there,” I said. He nodded his head, with piercing eyes. I began moving forward towards the lab door and he continued down the hallway. As I entered the lab, my heart was pounding. Who was he? The high school is small compared to most and I’d never seen him before.
