Apollo POV…
I managed to get Emma to my room with the help of her mother, who I learned was called Gina. The bath was filled with warm, soapy water, leaving Emma in her capable hands, I decided to hunt down some clothes.
I link a few of the Girls from my pack who attend the school with Emma, after a brief explanation they agree to bring clothes and shoes, they also suggest having Grace come with them as she is Emma’s friend. Who would have thought a Vampire would befriend the daughter of hunters. Grace became a part of my pack when she refused to participate in slaughtering people for fun and saved many of our children. Grace is old, so she can be out in the sunshine, and does not need a lot of blood to survive, being born a Vampire makes her different, only needing to ask for an occasional feed or surviving on blood from the butcher, human food can help, but top ups are needed. Grace will not force a feed, and she refuses to compel anyone, but being as beautiful as she is, there is not a shortage of volunteers.
It doesn’t take long for them to arrive, I send Grace into my room for her to help Gina, and I fill the girls in on everything.
The shock and anger are not surprising, they all came to like Emma, although I could not allow socialisation with what I thought to be a human, they treated her well.
My Beta Alex will not talk to me, he feels broken knowing it was him that led Emma to me in the Gardens, I should have listened to his gut, he swore Emma was good, but I was blinded by my hatred, which has now cost me everything.
I head to my room, hoping Emma is awake. I knock only to be dragged into the room and slammed against the wall by Grace, I do not fight her, I deserve whatever I get.
“Why? Explain it to me Apollo, Emma is an incredible person, what made you think she would hurt anyone? This is going to break her, the wolf in her wants revenge, she wants to take over and kill. I can barely feel Emma in there, there is not any fight left.”
Those words are worse than any physical pain, Grace lowers me, and I see my Mate laying in my bed, washed and dressed, but still unconscious. I drop to my knees and the tears flow, not caring about appearing weak, the hurt is just too much, my beautiful mate has gone through hell because of me.
When I finally rise Gina and Grace are by my side, they help me up and lead me to Emma.
“She needs you with her now, the bond will help the healing process. When Emma wakes, fetch us, and we will try to help her. If my compulsion is needed, I will use it for her. My friend is more important than my vow not to use it.” Grace then kisses Emma on the cheek, as does Gina, leaving us alone, they head out.
I look over to the stunning woman sleeping in my bed, without another thought I slide in beside her, taking a hand in mine, and kissing it gently. Tears stinging my eyes again, I let them fall.
Alex POV…
The anger is coursing through me, I have always liked Emma, she was always so sweet and funny, to scared to talk to me then blushing when she managed to get a word out. There was no way she was a bloodthirsty killer. I do not know all that they did to her, but the smell of blood in the cell was overwhelming, with another odour which repulsed me, I knew that what they must have done, how can Apollo leave them alive after that? I will not harm them, let them think they have gotten away with it, then Emma, once she has recovered, will be able to do with them as she pleases. I will gladly hold them down if she needs me to. I will do whatever my Luna wishes.
Back at the Mansion, tensions were high, everyone knew about the events that occurred. Sadness was felt throughout the pack, everyone felt the Alphas pain through the bonds that linked them all. The place held no chatter or laughter, it was silent. A few omegas shed tears, even a few of the higher ranks looked on the verge of breaking down, Apollo’s sorrow ran that deep. It was a day of mourning.
Apollo’s POV…
Laying here I realise that something needs to be done, this anger and hatred to all hunters must end, Gina can help us find the real murderers, making them own up to what they did and to be punished accordingly. No more innocents should get punished for the crimes of an evil few.
I look again at Emma, she is so frail. How could I not see her for who she is, if only I looked passed what I assumed, and saw what was in front of me, a beautiful woman with a huge heart and a gentle nature. I remember the look in her eyes, the fear, the confusion. Why didn’t I take notice, I should have.
The tears come again, and again. I cannot stop them, I don’t want to stop them. My pain is nothing compared to what Emma has suffered.
The memory of me striking her again and again keeps on flashing in my mind, I see her face, I see the hurt that was caused by my hand. I did that. How could I do that?
I gently trace my finger over her bruised cheek, a few shifts, and she will be fully healed, physically anyway. The internal scars may take a while, but I will do anything to help ease the pain. Whatever she needs, even if it means losing her.
I then look over to see Emma stirring. She opens her eyes, then turns and looks straight at me.
