Emma POV…
I wake next to a warm body, an arm draped over my hip. Relieved when I look down to see that I’m fully dressed in shorts and a shirt. Remembering that Alex asked me to stay as it was late, and I had an early chat with Apollo. However, I do not remember him being in bed with me. He was on the sofa. So, I shake him.
“Hey! Wake up, Alex. What are you doing in the bed?” He wakes and then mumbles his response while pulling me back down into his arms.
“You were shouting and crying, looked like a bad nightmare, so I came over to comfort you, then you kept telling me not to leave, so I got in bed and held you.”
“Oh, Ok, thank you, but I am ok now. You can stop comforting me so I can get dressed.” He let me up then. I noticed some clothes folded up on a chair, Alex must have got them for me last night from one of the girls that live here.
I head to the bathroom to shower and change, while Alex does what he needs to.
Apollo POV…
I sit in the library waiting for Gina and Eric. It is the only quiet place this morning with all the festival goings on.
They arrive on time, my Gamma showing them in. I wanted time to ask a few questions before Emma got here.
“Hello Gina, Eric. Take a seat, would you like a drink? I will link an Omega if you do.”
“Good morning, Alpha. Coffee would be great please, what did you want to ask us?” Gina replied for the both of them, giving a wide smile.
After linking one of my pack requesting coffee, I decide to dive right in because this has been bothering me for a while.
“Why couldn’t I scent Emma’s wolf? Or anything on her for that matter.” Gina answers me, Eric doesn’t seem to talk much.
“Oh, yes, we had to hide her sent to keep her safe, until she turns for the first time. It is a very powerful Fey potion, so it blocked all of her sent instead of just her wolfs. We couldn’t have anyone finding out until she was ready. Emma has already started to gain some of her wolf senses, so we know it is time.”
“Well, that explains a lot, I just wish I knew sooner, maybe a letter before you arrived, explain everything to me.”
“We did what we thought was right. If it wasn’t good for Emma here, we would have moved her to another pack. However, she got settled here, and we just didn’t think it was an issue.”
“Well, the damage is done, I mean, we know what Emma is now, so we can make sure to get her acclimated.”
As we finish our current conversation, the coffee arrives, as does Alex and Emma. Did she stay with him? He looks awfully familiar with her. I need to calm myself, breathe Apollo, and get it together.
Emma greets her parents and then smiles at me, Alex gives me a curious nod. We all grab a drink, waiting for someone, so start. I look to Gina, and she takes the hint.
“Emma, sweetheart, do not interrupt until I finish. It will be a shock, but we have to let you know about your past and the future. It will also explain the nightmares and the weird things that are happening with you.”
“Ok Mum, but that is scaring me, I am listening, though.”
“Where to begin? Well, before you were born, your dad and I worked for an organisation that helped track the evil in the world. We believed all of us to be honourable. We were wrong. A few years after we discovered that there were a few of us who believed anyone who was different needed to be executed. They treated our job as a sport and were extremely cruel. Your farther found out about a village that they planned to attack, so we arranged for them to be followed, by the time I arrived there was so much destruction and chaos, we ran thorough a forest to try and get to the village and help the victims, but we stopped when two gunshots sounded, they were close to us, so we headed in that direction. What we saw was two men staring down at a helpless young girl. One had a gun pointed at her, so Eric shot him first, and then the other. When we got to them, there was two more bodies, the woman was still alive, but barely, she asked me to take care of the girl, and before taking her last breath she told me a name and birth date. That girl was you, sweetheart.” Emma looked at her mother in what can only be described as shock. Alex held her hand as Gina continued.
“That isn’t all of it. The reason for the attack, well s*******r really, was because the village had wolves, werewolves to be exact. They were a pack, one that caused nobody any harm, just lived in peace.
We saved as many as possible, but they set fire to the packhouse where a lot of the young were placed. We saw some of the pack run out of the back, and a few of the hunters were going after them, but we stopped and killed them. You were with your father. He was taking you to safety.
There were ten of us who tried to help, but it wasn’t enough, there was two survivors from our group, your father being the one, and myself.
Which comes to you, sweet Emma. My beautiful daughter, we love you so much, and so did your birth parents. They gave their lives for you. They were wolves, which brings us to our declaration. You are a wolf, and on your nineteenth birthday, a change will occur. This is why this place is safest for you. It is a pack house, and Apollo is the Alpha of the pack. I will let him tell you about everything, what being a wolf entails, and what to expect when you change.” Emma is silent for a moment, but then asks.
“So, the dreams, they are memories? The Dream about riding a wolf, which was probably my mum or Dad? The screams and everything, they were real? How?” Apollo answers her this time.
“This is a lot, I know Emma, but you will come to understand everything, we are here for you, always. Do you want time with your parents to process all this before we go on?”
“No, I want to understand.”
“What do you want to know first?"
Emma is told everything about being a wolf, and she takes it all really well. The shock will wear off, though, and then it will all hit. The enormity of it all.
We tell her about her senses, healing, mates, and pack rankings, Alex explains how the change will hurt and what she needs to do. It all seems to be going well. Nobody mentions her real name, but she is told about how her wolf will communicate, and that can be a discussion between them both.
After a long time and a lot of questions, Emma requests some space and a chat with Grace. That is another topic for discussion, but it should come from Grace herself. Emma is shown to her new place, her bags and possessions already waiting for her.
