Chapter 3

Kaycee

Chad asked if we could go somewhere quiet to talk and get to know each other. I agreed and he led me to one of the bedrooms upstairs. I sat on the bed and he sat next to me, it was super awkward and Koda had her guard up like I did. "So, tell me about yourself!" Chad said brightly. "Well, my name is Kaycee Evans. I'm from the Bear Tooth pack and my dad is an Alfa. I will take over for him when he's ready to hand the reins over." I said. "Wait, how would you be a Luna with no mate to be the Alfa? I mean that makes no sense!" Chad asked in an almost humorous tone. "Well, I wouldn't need a mate because I would be the Alfa, my mate would take a different title. Im my father's only heir and have been training to be the Alfa since before my mom disappeared." I was angry now and Koda was just as pissed. "A woman? As the Alfa? That is the best joke I've heard in a long time! Women can't lead a pack. A woman's job is to take care of the home, do whatever her mate tells her to do, and make babies. And a Luna does the same except add on what? Party planning and taking care of the pups when an attack comes and the males are fighting for everyone's safety." Chad was laughing the entire time he was telling me what a woman's purpose was. Bear Tooth's warriors were almost 40% women and they worked hard for what they had, even my mom trained and fought in rouge attacks when they happened. Every single member was trained to fight since they were young pups. "Wow, I thought you were supposed to be my other half, the final piece to complete me and make me stronger. But your just a misogynistic pup who can't stand the thought of a woman being in power.

I Kaycee Evans future Alfa..." My rejection was cut off by his hand around my throat. He was squeezing tighter as he spoke. "Now, now, Kaycee that won't work. Im not your fated mate, you are nothing special to me and I would love nothing more than to kill you right now. But my boss needs you alive something about the power you have, being the moon goddess's daughter and all." he must have seen my confused expression. "Oh yes. You didn't know? Your mother is the moon goddess herself, and I don't mean that "We're all the moon goddess' children" crap. I mean for real your mom disappeared because she had duties to fulfill as a goddess and after having you she took a little vacation to be with you and your pathetic excuse of an Alfa father. But duty calls so she just left and didn't tell you or daddy dearest. So instead of killing you, I am going to mark you and you will be coming with me. But I have to let you know I have already found my mate, were not marked of course but after I mark you the first thing I'm going to do is go sleep with her so you feel the betrayal pains. I've heard those can drive a wolf insane. Shall we test that theory?" I was trying to fight but with the lack of oxygen, I was too weak to do any real damage. I could feel Koda trying to help me but it was no use I was losing consciousness. "Koda tell Wes where we are and tell him to hurry!" I saw Chad's canniness extend as he slowly moved to the left side of my neck. As he grazed the spot where my shoulder met my neck I heard a massive growl and the door smash open Wes was here! He tackled Chad and they started fighting. With a lack of oxygen and everything that vile man said to me I could no longer stand. Willow caught me before I hit the floor and was trying to talk to me, I couldn't hear what she was trying to say. Then there was a bright light and Weston was standing above me trying to talk as well. "Wes she's in shock we have to get her home! Or at least get her out of this party in case she starts lashing out or shifts!" Willow was yelling at Wes. "I know will! I have two of our guys getting the truck. Stay with us Kaycee we will get you home as soon as we can." Wes was scared out of his mind right now.

Weston

Willow and I were looking all around the house trying to find Kaycee and this Chad guy. As soon as she said it didn't feel right Maverik and I were uneasy and desperate to find her. We had looked everywhere in the house except the bedrooms on the second floor I was heading to the stars with my hand in Willows when all of a sudden a splitting headache ruptured from out of nowhere. I stopped in my tracks and grabbed my head in pain. Then I heard her or I thought it was her. She sounded like Kaycee but the voice was slightly deeper and raspier. "Weston, you need to get to Kaycee NOW! Second door on the right upstairs, he's going to mark her he's not her mate! HURRY!" I snapped out of it and grabbed Willow and dragged her up the stairs as fast as I could. I didn't care that people probably thought we were in a hurry to hook up at a stupid party. I found the door and tried to open it but it was locked. I growled and dropped a shoulder and ran into the door, smashing it into splinters. The sight before me made my blood run cold. A dark-haired guy had Kaycee by the throat and was leaning in to mark her. That voice must've been Koda her wolf! I ran and tackled the fu**er to the floor and was getting shots anywhere I could. He was saying words in a different language, then there was a bright flash of green light and he disappeared. I ran to Kaycee who was in Willow's arms staring off into space. "Wes, she's in shock, we have to get her home! Or at least get her out of this party in case she starts lashing out or shifts!" Willow's voice was panicked as I registered what she was saying to me. I linked two of our warriors to get the truck started and everyone needed to be ready to leave in two minutes or they were being left here. "I know Will I have two of our guys getting the truck, Stay with us Kaycee we will get you home as soon as we can. " I responded to my mate and cousin in a shaky voice. Tears started streaming down Kaycee's face and a sob escaped her. "We need to go NOW!" Willow picked Kaycee up a little so I could scoop her up in my arms. I shielded her face in my chest as we ran outside to the truck. I put Kaycee in the backseat with Willow and told the warriors to sober up and get back to the pack as fast as they could. Tossed the oldest warrior Kaycee's keys and told him to drive carefully. I drove the hour trip in 30 minutes while Willow was holding Kaycee in the backseat while she screamed and sobbed. I had never seen anyone make those sounds and it was terrifying that my Kayce was the one making them. Willow held her the entire way to Bear Tooth whispering that things would be ok and that she was safe now. We sped through the gates and I linked Uncle David what happened. He and Aunt Linda were standing in front of the pack hospital when I pulled up. I jumped out to get Kaycee but Uncle David beat me to it and was already carrying her to the doctor who rushed out with a few nurses. Willow was in my arms in a flash, crying into my shoulder. "Wes, can I talk to you for a moment?" Aunt Linda asked. Willow squeezed me tighter, not wanting me to let her go. "Mind if my mate comes with she doesn't seem to want to let me go," I say with a soft smile and kiss the top of Willow's head. "Yes, that's fine considering your mate is my niece," Linda responds with a smile of her own. I froze in shock, this was the niece Aunt Linda was talking about?! I feel Willow start to laugh in my embrace, "Of course you were the ladies' man Aunt Linda warned me about." she said in between giggles and tears. "Well since it didn't take to long to figure out yes, Willow is the niece I was telling you about and Weston is the ladies' man I warned you about. But since you both seem happy with the mate bond all I will say is you need to take care of each other. Mates are very special and shouldn't be taken for granted or abused. With that being said I love you both very much but am not afraid to knock some sense into either of you, no matter how old you are." Linda finished her speech and we all giggled. Willow looked up at me with a smile and kissed me and I kissed her back. We had to return to reality when Uncle David came back to update us on Kaycee. "Wes, I'm happy you found your mate. Hopefully, Kaycee approves." He said with a hollowness in his voice. "Yes sir she does, I guess Kaycee found her before I did and they kicked some serious a** at the flip cup table." I said with a smile which Uncle David returned. "Nice to meet you, Alfa David, I'm Willow, Linda's niece, and Kaycee is amazing I hope our friendship can grow. How is she?" Willow asked. Uncle David laughed," Please, sweetheart, call me David or Uncle David. You are family now." His smile faded, "The doctor had to sedate her. She was fighting the nurses and started to shift. Let's go to my office and you guys can tell me what happened." We somberly walked to the pack house and prepared to relive this horrible night.
