THE CRY OF ANIMALS
Immediately after the lion’s speech, the donkey, being the most angered, sprang up and wildly brayed his guttural crying sound, presenting his cry and suggestion in pain.
Donkey: “Heehaaaaaw, Heehaaaaaw, Heehaaaaaw Heehaaaaw, Heehaaaaw, Prrrrururuu! Prrrurrr!
I was stolen from my mother's land of freedom! But no one helped me! The man tamed me to pull a plough and chariots. He loads me with heavy luggage and assigns me heavy duties that are difficult for me.
He grazes me at limited times. I will never return to his homestead. Wherever I meet him, I will severely kick him to death with my back legs! Man should be eliminated. Let’s come together and fight for freedom.”
Being through with his expression, all the animals were nodding their heads up and down as a sign of agreement with his suggestion.
The monkey, being mischievous, jumped from a branch of the Nyaa tree he was sitted, landing in the middle of the circle. He weirdly clapped his hands and screamed heavily as if an elephant had stepped on his toe. He was filled with deep wrath, such that talking for him was lost for a moment. Painful tears of distress rolled down his cheeks.
Monkey: “Man is always merciless and envies me the most. He has given me all the house chores to do for him. I plough the whole farm, wash his clothes, collect firewood and fetch water for him. I’m breaking loose for my freedom. I swear I’ll never return to work on his farm. Whenever I sneak into his farm, I will solemnly destroy all his plants.”
Mowing angrily, the cow walked to the center of the circle, merely kicking the air as she jumped up and down in fury.
Cow: “My breasts are painful and tired of being held on a milking machine every day. The health of my calf has deteriorated due to lack of enough milk, since my milk is always given to children and the rest sold in hotels. We are sold to be slaughtered for meat. Man must go! Man must go! Man must goooo!”
Brrrrrrr! Brrrrrrrrrr! Was all that was heard next as the bee flew here and there, buzzing agonously against the man.
Bee: “Poison! Poison! Man is killing us with poison. He sprays our flowers with chemicals and harvests the honey we make in our homes. Man is poisoning river banks and dams where we collect water that helps us in making food for our young ones. Man is absolutely hurting us. I shall always sting him whenever I meet him or his children.”
The rhino matched forth bitterly, lowering his sharp horn down to the ground ready for battle. He wildly cried loudly in different sounds, like; grunting, growling, mooing, panting, squealing, screaming and trumpeting. The bees’ words evoked his past bitter memories, and it was time he felt charged and embarked on a deadly revenge mission. In red-hot and menacing fury, he sneezed heavily.
Every animal sensed war in the atmosphere. Some animals were so scared that they moved some steps back from their positions. Shedding tears painfully, the rhino began his speech.
Rhino: “Let this cry be heard all over by each person. We are dying of our own precious horns and meat. Man is killing all of us in the name of legal certificates of poaching. He is hunting us for our strong, expensive skin which he uses to make leather shoes and for our hooves he uses to make binding glues.
Are there no alternatives to all this brutality? Man is my enemy today. Whenever I meet him, I will be piercing him to death using my sharp precious horn!”
The horse neighed painfully in turn, shaking his head to ease the pain that was searing in between his bone marrows. He played in a devastating manner that signified his bitterness and readiness for battle. His uncontrollable anger got him clubbing his head, setting it in full rotation. If he had access to a hammer, he could have searched and blown a man to death.
Horse: “Man pretends to be friendly by giving us good names and covering us with unworthy garments that only look good to him while he is selling us. He severely beats us to pull his heavily loaded chariots even when it is impossible or when we are sick. He prepares races for us only for him to enjoy the rewards of fame alone once we win. From today, I swear never to return to his farm. Through my back kicks i will eliminate man from our land.”
Hissing and creeping on the ground, the snake approached the animals in a way that all the animals trembled in fear of his fangs. He was full-tempered and his neck was buffing in poison. Tiss-tossing his branched and sharp tongue, he literally presented his cry to all the animals.
Snake: “Man is my greatest enemy! He is killing me and my children! He hits us on the head, leaving us to rot! He kills and skins my elder bros whenever he meets them. He makes expensive pouches and Clark shoes using their precious expensive skin. Nevertheless, he has taken away our precious stones from caves and mountains. "I swear to eliminate man by biting him to death with my poisonous fangs and restore all the stolen land.”
Clapping their hands together, the animals nodded their heads up and down in agreement while some shouted cheerfully to empower the snake.
Bitterly beating his chest, the gorilla stepped forth and made a rallying cry. His canine teeth sprang out like mushrooms and his aquiline nose clearly exhibited the magnitude of the anger. He bit his lower lip in a hopeless attempt to manage his fury. His tough facial appearance depicted the insurmountable bitterness and severe pain he was experiencing against man.
Gorilla: “Man has taken all my wild fruits and food plants. After harvesting, he sells some and keeps the rest in his store. He has tamed me to watch over him and his farm, especially at night. He has been assigned heavy garden duties and house chores without saving any time for me to rest. From today onwards, he will be my enemy. "I declare never to go back to work on his farm, but I’ll always sneak in to destroy his farm.”
The dog was not left behind. Barking severely in demonstration of his anger against the man, he stood tagging his tail ready to make his statement.
Dog: “Man has created enmity between me and you. He trained me to hunt and feed on your meat. I humbly plead for forgiveness for hunting you! I was only under the instructions of a man. When he plans to hunt animals for meat, he ties me during the day and releases me at night. I watched over his homestead and farm as a soldier. He will always be my enemy.”
At the time he finished his cry, he buried his tail between his back legs and shamefully rolled himself in circular movements to lay down. He closed his eyes out of hopelessness and in fear of death as a sign of despair and total surrender.
His desperate plea for forgiveness landed on their deaf ears. Instead, the atmosphere was filled with so much tension that the lions’ stare at him was so frightening that it seemed to tear through him into the bushes behind.
He was disturbed and forced to relocate from the presence of the animals by a furiously croaking frog. The frog courageously presented his cry to all the animals.
Frog: “Man has taken me from my swampy areas and tamed me as his pet. He misuses me by spending my time scaring away moths from store rooms and keeping away small insects from his stored water. He forcefully made me his timekeeper by croaking early in the morning to wake him, updating him on the time for lunch and reminding him what he should do in different seasons.
Man is indeed a threat to us. Never accept his friendship. He must be tortured to the grave and his children must be tormented to death. ”
Meeeooow! Meeeooow! Was the cry of the cat heard from the front circle. In a grip of paralyzing fear, he made a clean pair of heels soundlessly stepping forward to express his feelings against the man.
Cat: “Man has tamed me on his farm as a pet. He has trained me to chase away predators and feed on my friends’ meat, the rat. I always feel sorry for killing my friends. But since I’m under instructions lest I die of hunger, I end up devouring them. I’m really sorry for that, and I plead for forgiveness. Man must be chased away from our land. Man must be taught an unforgettable lesson.”
The cat could be seen deeply meditating as if doomsday had caught up with him and was about to be condemned.
Just behind her stood the shark who had sneaked and stood aghastly since the cat had become his enemy. With a high-pitched tone, he cried without hesitation!
Shark Fish: “Man is the only enemy! Man is the source of all evil and the cause of division in the animal family! He has transferred some of our friends from lakes to ponds and used us for his food. He mercilessly catches us with sharp hooks that pierce through our mouths, devouring our painful gills. He puts us in his fridges while still alive or removes our scales to deep-fry us to death. What action should be taken against such a ruthless being? Who will save us from this tragedy?”
