Chapter 3 An Escape Plan

**Alpha Amos's Point of View** I stared at her as they poured liquid milk on the floor she was mopping. She stared at the group of ladies; this act angered them. “Why are you staring at me, Black wolf?” one of them dragged her hair and used her body to clean the milk on the ground. I looked away coldly. She deserves it, I told myself. She is an evil woman; she killed her only family. If she can kill her sister, then she can do anything. She deserves all the humiliation and beatings. This way, she will understand that what she did was evil. “Alpha...” One of the ladies notice my presence. I walked to them with a cold expression. I stared down at her; she looked miserable. Her eyes, which were usually filled with pain and sorrow, were replaced with nothing. Staring into her eyes, there was no emotion, no hope, nothing. It made me shrug and walk away. --- **Anaiah's Point of View** My eyes glitter with tears, how many years now? Three? Four? No, it's been five years to be exact, that I have been treated worse than a person. During the day, I get beaten up by everyone who sees me, then at night, unable to hold the mate pull, Alpha Amos takes me into his bed. I have become his slave and slut. It has become a custom for people to hit me and insult me every time they come across me. I am twenty-three years old now, and all I've come to know is pain. It was tiring; my body has slowly grown accustomed to the pains they afflict on me. I felt used; there was nothing in this pack for me, only pain and sorrow. Why should I suffer for what I didn't do? Why should I put up with the maltreatment of the Nightfall pack? Sometimes, I thought of finding out how my sister got killed, but what is the need? It was obvious she died in the forest probably killed by a rogue. Even if I found to tell them that it was a rogue, they wouldn't believe me. Everyone has made up their mind that I am the culprit and nothing can change that. I weakly stood up from the ground. The ladies left me after Alpha Amos's appearance. Looking at my body, which was filled with milk, my lips formed a frown. I won't put up with this anymore. Nothing can ever make Alpha Amos accept me; he will only use me as his slut. Nothing will make anyone believe my innocence. Instead of pleading innocent every time they accuse me, I will leave this pack and start again somewhere far from here. My eyes went around, noticing the number of warriors and guards in the palace. It will not be an easy task to escape, especially since Alpha Amos uses me to warm his bed. “But... during the moon festival—” Arya reminded me. “Yes, during the moon festival, the pack is vulnerable because everyone is celebrating, mating, and doing other stuff. Even the warriors of that period are celebrating. It will be easier to leave the pack undetected,” I said to my wolf. I will just have to wait for the moon festival, which is two days from today. The only issue I will have is if Alpha Amos summons me during the festival. --- On the day of the moon festival, it was just like I had imagined. Many of the beta warriors were drinking away, others were making out with their mates or other unmated ladies who couldn't find their mates or whose mates were dead. The unmated ladies hate their situation, but if it was given to me, I would be thrilled to have Alpha Amos gone from my life. Having my life back is something I can only dream of... for now. The sound of singing and cheering was so loud that you could hardly hear anybody speak. That means even if I get seen by someone, it will be hard to get the attention of the people. Though there were still a few guards around, it wasn't much. At most, ten or fifteen. Almost all the pack members were in the palace hall, which was where I was at the moment. If I can leave the palace, then leaving the pack will be easy. My eyes searched around for Alpha Amos. I must not be seen by him. With the smell of arousal in this hall, it will be harder to suppress the mate pull, especially when your mate is a few distances away. He was at the bottom of the hall, surrounded by his warriors. They were probably making jest. Alpha Amos was smiling warmly at his betas. It was almost like he wasn't the same person that beat me up anytime he felt like he should. I was at a corner close to the centre of the hall, where lovers were making out. It was best to be seen by lovers who were busy ripping each other's clothes than those who were gossiping because if those gossiping saw me, I would be their plaything for amusement. But if the lovers see me, they will ignore me. Calculating how I should walk out of there, I swallowed hard, staring at the crowd that seemed to hold my future. If I fail to escape, Alpha Amos will surely make my life more miserable, though I doubt that my life can be any more miserable. With steady breaths, I went through the crowd and slowly out of the palace without a soul seeing me. I was filled with joy as I took more steps away from the palace. This is it, my freedom— My feet came to a halt, and my eyes narrowed at the road ahead. I could feel the strength of people running. I looked at the ground; all the stones and sand were jumping. My body was also shaking from the vibration. I gasped as I saw the group of Lycans, most of them in their wolf form, running towards my direction. The same feet that were eager to leave the palace began running back to the palace as my life depended on it. Lycans are terrifying, bloodthirsty enemies of the Nightfall pack. They have killed a lot of pack members. Killing me would be like crushing an ant. Tears rolled from my eyes in fear. I ran back to the festival. I tried to warn everyone, but my mouth couldn't form the words, only screams, which were easily covered by the sound of the festival. It wasn't my fault that I was finding it hard to speak. I have not spoken a word apart from "I'm innocent" and "spare me," so the words were a bit far from me. I pushed my way through the crowd to Alpha Amos. With all my strength, I shouted the words that came into my mind, “Lycans!” But it was too late. The terrified screams that I heard were far more than my warning. Alpha Amos was alarmed. He looked surprised. The Lycans have never raided us during the moon festival. They don't even know about the festival. How did they know that we were vulnerable at this moment? Alpha Amos froze while staring in my direction, but it wasn't at me. I slowly turned back to see what he was looking at. I wished I hadn't looked because what I saw was a Lycan wolf tearing a male that was two feet away from me. The blood splashed on my face while the Lycan kept ripping the man apart. I froze, unable to run or stop the Lycan. It was when the Lycan stopped tearing the man up and stared at me that I took to my heels. Fortunately, many running werewolves were unlucky to come between me and the Lycan, but the Lycan was determined to kill me, so he kept chasing after me while killing whoever came its way. Finally, I tripped on a dead body and fell. The Lycan caught up to me in no time. With saliva dripping down, the wolf looked at me like a predator would look at its prey. Its claws and teeth were out for another ripping. Oh, dear goddess.
