A concussion

When Lilys stomach finally stops, she lifts her head out of the bowl and looks around the room.

The room is well done, in a simple black and white theme with no mess in sight.

The furniture is all clearly expensive with not a single piece of flat pack.

Lily looks down and sees what is clearly a very expensive bedding set, which is now covered in dirt and other mess from her clothes.

A small groan escapes her lips, and Jake suddenly looks in the room still holding the phone.

“Is everything okay Lily?”

“I’m ruining this bedding” she sighs.

With that she hears Jake mutter something quickly in the phone and hang up.

He strides over to the bed and takes one of Lily’s hands (the other still holding the bowl)

Lily lets out a surprised noise, as it feels like a shock passes between them where their hands touch.

“Please dont worry yourself about that” he says. His soothing tone instantly calms Lily making her feel at ease.

“I’ve called for a doctor as I think you might have a concussion”

At this Lily looks up at him, confused as to why this handsome stranger was helping her to this extent.

“There is no need to do that, I think I should be heading back” she muttered. Despite her words, for some reason she felt sad at the thought of leaving Jake.

‘I’m going mad, she thinks to herself. I’ve only just met the guy!’

At her statement of intent to leave, Jakes concerned look has changed to a scowl.

“You will not be going anywhere. You are waiting for a doctor and that’s final’

Having always been an independent girl, who relied only on herself. Lily was not one to be bossed about.

“I’m sorry, but WHO do you think you are?!? Telling me what I can & can’t do?!?” she spits out, her temper rising.

By now Jake is really scowling at her, and lets out a low growl “you’re mate!”

“My WHAT?!” she bellowed, wincing as her own shouting hurt her head.

At this Jake lets out a low growl again, running his hand through his hair.

“Look Lily, I’m just trying to help you. You had a nasty fall, and hit your head hard. I’ve spoken to a doctor and they told me to not let you out of my sight”

At this he looked at Lily with a pleading look and cupped her chin pulling her face to look at him.

“Please, just stay here and wait for the doctor. I just want to know that you’re okay”

Lily looked into those gorgeous golden eyes, and immediately felt bad at seeing the sadness in them.

“I’m sorry” she muttered trying to look away from his intense gaze. He held onto her chin, and ran his thumb across her cheek. As soon as she had relented and agreed to stay, she saw his whole mood change again.

An eager happiness was back in his face, as he got up and went to one of the cabinets. He proceeded to pull out some clothes and brought them over to the bed.

Lily smiled and waited for him to leave, as he stood there waiting.

“Erm.... where can I get changed?” she shyly said.

“Oh” Jake replied, blushing. “Sorry, I”ll leave” and he quickly left the room.

Lily pulled on the clothes, and couldn't help but smile as she pulled the top on that smelt of him.

“What is happening to me?!” she mumbled to herself.

Once she’d changed and settled back onto the bed she heard a knocking on the door.

As the door opened and Jake stepped in it was like a light went on in her chest, just seeing him smiling awkwardly at her and running his hand through his hair just made her swoon and gave her butterflies.

That was until a small, and beautiful woman walked in behind him. Lily found herself glaring at the woman, and an intense jealousy building up inside of her.

‘I’m nuts’ she thought. ‘Why am I jealous!?! Of course the guy is married’

Lost in her own thoughts she failed to notice the woman walk over and start talking to her.

“Hello, I’m Samantha the pa.... erm the local doctor. I’ve come to check up on you as Alpha *cough* I mean erm Jake said you had a bad fall”

So lost in an extreme sense of relief that this beautiful woman was not married to Jake. Lily completely missed the strange comments Samantha made.

Once Samantha had given Lily a thorough check over, she frowned and turned to Jake.

“Sir she’s taken a nasty hit to the head, and does have a concussion. She’s to stay in bed, and rest. I’ll give you some pain relief to give her every four hours and you need to check on her regularly to ensure her symptoms do not worsen.”

At this she turned to Lily and asked “any questions?”

Lily muttered something about going home, to which she heard a low growl coming from Jake.

Samantha quickly stepped in and sternly remarked “No, you need to stay in this bed and Jake will look after you and keep me updated”

At this, she walked out beckoning Jake to come with her.

Lily attempted a low growl of her own only to end up choking.

Causing Jake and Samantha to rush back to her, Lily blushed and muttered reassurances that she was fine.

Whilst waiting for Jake to return. Lily lay back on the bed, sinking into the soft pillows with a groan.

“Comfy are we?” Jake said as he bounded back into the room.

“What about my horse?” lily groaned.

At this Jake rolled his eyes and sat down on the bed next to Lily.

“He is fine, back in his stable and I’ve got paid the yard to sort him for you”

Lily half took this in, but was struggling to listen. Just having him this close to her was causing her heart to race and a fire to build up inside her.

As Jake got comfortable on the bed his shoulder brushed against hers. The monent their bodies touched it felt like an electric shock went through her. Lily gasped and turned to look at Jake.

A smile crept onto his face at her reaction.

“Everything okay Lily?” he softly drawled. Just the way he pronounced her name caused Lily’s heart to skip a beat.

“Erm, errr yep fine” she lied.

Although as she say there and thought about it, this is the first time in her life that things have felt right. That she is where she is meant to be.......at this thought she smiled and settled into the bed.
