“He's gone,” muttered Max. “I can't believe it.”
“It was the least I could do,” said Basil, turning to Tommy.
“Is Oxworth really gone for good?” asked Milo. Basil shrugged his shoulders.
“Where did you send him?” asked Max.
“To the only place I could think of,” said Basil. “The Shadowlands.”
“Can he escape?” asked Snoop, lifting Tommy by the feet.
“I don't think so,” said Basil.
They lifted Tommy up off the ground and walked back to Merrihaven.
“We'll be ready if he does,” said Max. His stomach churned at the thought of Oxworth in the Shadowlands with Isolde. Shadowstone was the key to her prison. Would Isolde be able to escape now that it was so close?
