The city looked different on the drive back. Quieter, slower, yet buzzing underneath like it knew what had changed. I gripped the steering wheel as if it were the only thing keeping me tethered, the memories of the past forty-eight hours flashing through my mind: the twins in my arms, Adrian’s screens lighting up with every hacked file, the satisfaction of finally transferring my father’s assets, and the heavy weight of the charges I had filed.
And Lily.
She was the only reason I hadn’t completely unraveled. Her image kept me grounded when I wanted to scream, break things, or disappear into the chaos of my own making.
