Chapter16 Desire

2483 Words
Abel Hill was not in Manhattan these days. Elektra took the tranquilizer Bates gave her. Probably because of sleeping too much during the day, she woke up in the middle of every night. Mobile phone showed it was 23:00 o’clock. Elektra rubbed her head, deciding to take a shower. Abel and his bodyguards were not in. They should be in the field. For the business of Abel, Elektra was not qualified to inquire about, whether it was legitimate or not. Till the warm water washed away her fatigue, Elektra couldn’t remember that she’d not eaten much all day. Now her stomach was empty. So she put on her pajamas. Being too lazy to turn on the lights, Elektra walked all the way to the downstairs in the silvery moonlight coming through the French windows. As she turned the corner, a shadowy figure popped up in her sight. She was taken aback and nearly tripped over the steps behind her. “M… Mr. Hill…” Elektra looked at the man in front, much to her surprise. He seemed have just come back. A windbreaker was on him, probably because he had no time to change. Under his Adam's apple, his tie was still meticulously fastened. Seeing Elektra, he was not surprised at all. Abel stood quietly there, staring at her with his brown eyes as if he wanted to burn her out of two holes. Elektra felt somewhat uneasy. It was as if his gaze upon her had been turned into two small flames, burning all the way as far as he could see. Elektra’s palms soon began to sweat, about to slip on the railing. “Scared?” A question seemed funny and quirky. Elektra got stunned for a moment. She did not know whether Abel was asking about what happened just now, or that incident in the bar. She had no intention of answering. Only said as much as this, “I just got up to find something to eat.” After this, Elektra glanced at Abel’s behind, “Where's Vito?” It's a diversion. But Abel stared at Elektra for a while. As he unbuttoned his windbreaker, Abel walked to the sofa in the living room and said calmly, “You eat first.” Elektra went to the kitchen to find food. If memory served her right, there were milk and bread in the fridge, and peanut butter in the cupboard on the stove. Elektra poured herself a glass of milk and turned to get peanut butter from the cupboard. However, the public kitchen here was mostly used by Abel's bodyguards. They were tall and big. Where bottles and jars were kept, Elektra could not reach them even on her tiptoes. She struggled for it, but only pushed the jar of peanut butter farther and farther. At the moment she wanted to give up, a hot body came behind her. Abel did not give her a chance to react. He walked straight forward, with one hand around her waist to support himself on the counter, and the other hand over her head to pick up the jar of peanut butter that she had pushed away. Body to body. A moment of touch was like the sun light suddenly flooding into a darkroom. Wet and warm breath caressed the ear. Elektra felt that the hair behind her ears were standing up. In front of her was a cold marble countertop, which was hard against her pubic bone. Behind was Abel's strong and hot chest. Her heart palpitated. A hot current was generated in the lower abdomen, unceasingly downwards. Elektra did not know what to do for a moment, but Abel quickly went back away. He put down the jar of peanut butter, then turned back to the sofa. After having bread and milk, Elektra drank a cup of hot water. When she went out of the kitchen, her mood has returned to calmness. On the sofa in the living room, the man was lying on his back with his eyes slightly closed. His suit and tie had already been removed. Two buttons on his white shirt had been undone, and the lines from his nose to his Adam's apple were smooth like a work of art. He seemed very tired, and opened his eyes when hearing Elektra. But he only stared at her for a while, seemed not in the mood to talk. Elektra was keen enough to be well aware of the tension between them. In order to escape from this weird atmosphere, she bade “Goodnight” to Abel and went upstairs. "The necklace has been fixed.” Abel fished out a small square box from the pocket of the windbreaker, and put it on the table in front of him. Elektra was stunned. She walked over to pick it up, and said "Thank you”. "There is an auction at Sotheby’s tomorrow night," Abel stopped her, “Mark and Wendy Evans will be there." Elektra stopped and listened to him to continue, "He doesn't know that I borrowed you. I don't want him to think too much about it before the collaboration officially starts, so you have to accompany me tomorrow." “OK." said Elektra. Then there was a click of an unlocking in the apartment. It was quiet at night. The sound of unlocking was crispy and clear. There were only two of them in the huge space after all. Abel sat still for a while. He then put up both of his arms and smiled helplessly. His ability to decipher lies and intentions was indelibly etched in his bones. In a position like his, there had never been short of people with ulterior motives. They approached him with one purpose or another. It could have been Nano, a Bruno guy, or the police like... To him, outguessing and seeing through were as simple and natural as breathing. The hand raised and the knife fell. He had never been a softie. But oddly enough with the woman in his arms a moment ago, two ideas occurred to his mind suddenly at the same time ー Break her neck, or tighten his arms around her. He was startled by the latter one. So much so that in the end he did nothing but handed her the jar of peanut butter. For the first time, when he suspected someone, the instinct offered him an other option. As of now, whenever he closed his eyes, all he saw was her standing on the dark landing stair, wearing a pair of loose-fitting pajamas only. She seemed to never like drying her hair after the bath. The wet ends of her hair would often have one or two crystal drops. The silk cloth was wet and clung tightly to her body. The soft light reflected on her fair skin, making the night in the room even darker. Abel felt thirsty suddenly. The burning sensation that he felt in the piano room began to spread all over his body again, and finally stopped down there, between his legs. He looked up at the mirror. With the sound of shower, he saw the dim yellow light of the bathroom. The tiles and the mirror were all soft misty and steamy. He remembered that there was a cinnabar mole on her side neck, small and red, suffused with blood, which was extremely seductive. And also there was always a button on the chest of her nightgown that she had forgotten to buckle up... So the desire began to raise its head, and could not be suppressed. The water splashed down on the hot skin, little by little. Temperature and moisture are infiltrated and released from the pores of the body, trembling like grass fire, which burns out a destructive momentum. A sensitive spot was parched to spit out mucus, green-veined, crying for desire angrily. He gritted his teeth, held it in one hand. After the hesitation for one moment, he finally stroked it up and down slowly. His movements were awkward, for he rarely relieved himself in this way. Not because he didn't need to, but because in fact, he hardly got it out of control. Out of control. As if there was a voice, his heart was heavily hit by a boulder. On the verge of losing control, Abel suddenly change the water temperature to the lowest. Whoosh… Shower was replaced by water column; the sound of the slap on the ground was hard and cold. The hot desire encountered cold, gradually lost its heat. Water washed over his body again and again, for a long while, the moving fire flame was completely doused.... Abel propped up the wall with one hand, panting heavily. Although his face was as cold and distant as ever, there was a touch of red at the end of his eyes. Drops on his forehead rushed down the chin, running all the way to outline the man's perfect chest and abdomen line. “Abel Hill..." The breath was wet and chaotic. The voice was low and hoarse. But these three words were light enough like the water vapor in the bathroom. He paused, sighing as if in remorse. "WTF are you... doing?" * When Elektra went downstairs the following day, she found that Vito had already come back. He looked fatigued, with eye bags dropping to the chin, which would make anyone that sees him doubt that he must have been caught in the crossfire these days. Of course, Elektra did not want to meddle in other people's business. They went down to the parking lot. The rest of the bodyguards and drivers were already in place. Vito followed Abel to the Rolls Royce. Elektra thought for a while, then turned and followed another bunch of bodyguards to another car. “Where to?” The man's low voice came from behind. All the people stopped in their tracks and looked quietly at Abel whose look was gloomy. Elektra looked around and found that he was asking her. She got startled and pointed truthfully to the car equipped for bodyguards. But before she could speak, she heard a more dreary voice "Come here" and had to go obediently. Vito didn't know what had gone wrong. But seeing Elektra being scolded, he put on a gloating expression immediately and proudly opened the door of the backseat for Abel. When Vito lowered his head and wanted to follow after Abel, he backed out with a rigid spine. He went to the front passenger seat quietly. Instead, Elektra sat in the back seat. Abel was particularly weird from the moment he saw her this morning. After the car-exchange, he seemed to have been even angrier. With a couple of secrets harboured, Elektra dared not stay close to Abel. She moved to the further side of Abel again. But the further she moved, the gloomier Abel looked. Tow of them fell into silence all the way to Sotheby's New York headquarters. Today’s auction was diamonds. The fair was exclusively only to the VIP invitees because of their sky-high prices and smaller quantity. When Elektra arrived, Wendy hopped off the bus at the gate. It had been a long time since they met last. Miss Evans displayed a rare smile. She asked when she saw Elektra, “Did Abel feed you? Why you lost so much weight?” Without waiting for Elektra's answer, she clicked her tongue and added, “Your breasts have shrunk a bit, haven't them? You used to have a C, but now...” During the conversation, Wendy raised her hand, trying to measure it straight away. Abel stepped forward to fend her hand off. “Where's Mr Evans?” He asked in a cold voice. Wendy was taken aback. Although Abel could have given her a blank look as usual, it was the first time she had encountered an aura of his low vibes. Wendy could not help it. She felt a little intimidated and forgot to answer. A car just turned around and stopped right at the steps. Mark Evans got off the car and smiled as always. As the darkness fell, the glistening Hickey on the left side of his neck seemed greasy and ostentatious. He was extremely warm when seeing Abel, and treated him hospitably. When it comes to the gesture of goodwill, Abel would always have a bit of one-upmanship. Elektra immediately noticed that Wendy was pulling a long face. Surely enough, not waiting for Abel’s response, Wendy satirized, “Mr. Evans is so jolly today? Coming to an auction in person?” Mark was stunned for a moment. He evaded this confrontational question because of Abel's presence, but smiled carelessly and extended his hand to invite Abel in. However, Wendy did not follow him down the stairs. Instead, she asked directly, “Mr. Evans, why are you willing to spend so much money? Are you planning to climb into the bed of another Vixen by jewelry?” After her question, Mark raged at once. Elektra reacted quickly to stand in way of Wendy. She was thinking about how to speak, but hearing the voice coming from someone next to them. It was Abel. After keeping silent for a long time, he suddenly stepped out and said, “It’s about to start.” Then walked right into Sotheby's. Mark suppressed his anger and turned to chase Abel. Elektra sighed with a relief and turned to look at Wendy, asking, “What on earth happened to you and Mr. Evans?” * In the VIP room, Mark Evans lowered his voice and asked Abel impatiently, “Will the buyer Mr. Hill introduced be here today?” Abel was a little absent-minded. He twirled the ring on his finger and said in a nonchalant manner, “The contract has been negotiated. I'll pay for the goods, and Mr. Evans will be in charge of the transportation. We'll split the profits 70-30 and pay a deposit tonight.” Mark seemed thrilled. He did not expect the other party being so straightforward. He sat back with satisfaction. But Abel appeared to be a bit hung up, with eyes kept scanning to the VIP seat, which was next to Vito’s. “Why haven't they come in yet?” At last he could not bear it. He asked Vito with a pretense of insouciance. Vito was still excited about his first time sitting in the VIP seat of Sotheby’s. He got stunned for a while and answered honestly, “ Elektra sent a message saying that Miss Evans is not feeling well. She left with her.” "You agreed?" Vito didn’t understand but nodded. Abel’s facial expression then turned gloomy visibly. Vito felt a sudden panic, as if he were seeing himself being abandoned on the highway, walking home. A moment later, he heard Abel say to him in a cold voice: "Get out."
