Guilt

"DON'T LEAVE," Freya pleaded, her voice trembling as her tear-filled eyes locked onto Felix's. When Felix met her gaze, he saw the glistening tears welling up, ready to spill. "Please, don't leave. It's okay if you don't answer, but don't leave me alone," she pleaded, her tears finally escaping and streaming down her cheeks. Felix stood there, torn. He wanted to stay out of guilt, yet his pride wouldn't let him. Ultimately, he grabbed Freya's hand, only to fling it aside as if it were nothing. As he walked away, a pang of guilt gnawed at him. He knew he had let his ego dictate his actions once more. He wasn't satisfied with his decision, but his pride whispered that Freya deserved it. You shouldn't feel guilty. She deserves it. It's her fault mother died, and she's made your life miserable. She monopolizes Father's favor and attention, leaving you with the pressure to be the perfect Duke... He tried to convince himself. She barely does anything right and tarnishes the family name with her behavior. Yet, no matter what she does, Father will always side with her. As he walked down the dimly lit hallway, he nearly collided with Aurelia, who was carrying a flickering candle. "What are you doing up at this hour?" he asked, his brow furrowing in suspicion. "I-I was just going to get some fresh air, my lord," she stammered, clearly lying. A wave of nervousness wash over her, fearing Felix's suspicion. Clearly, she is looking for a way out to escape this place. "You should go to bed. It's not healthy for the child you're carrying," he commanded, his tone authoritative. Aurelia's heart pounded in her chest. Was it because she felt cared for? The Emperor, left her for quite some time. He didn't even checked on her, calling it her karma for sleeping with someone else's husband. Whatever the reason, she decided to brush it off and obey his order. "Y-yes," she replied after a pause. As she turned to head back to her chamber, she stopped momentarily. "Sleep well, my lord," she said, offering a small smile. For Felix, it was nothing, but for Aurelia, her face burned with embarrassment. "I LOST HER. I don't know where she is. She hasn't reported back to me," the Grand Duke stated. "What?! So we just wasted time?" Freya exclaimed, her fury evident. "Well, yes. Now we have to come up with a new plan," Vik said, leaning back on the couch. "What's the plan now?" she demanded. Vik smirked. "We can absolutely do the fastest way but it's kind of risky." "And what is that?" she asked, narrowing her eyes. He looked at her intently. "Kill him." "There's no way I would do that, that's murder!" She stated, it's true she never can do that to Zavier. There was no hate from the beginning between her and Zavier, just for his plan to work Freya won't be killing someone just because she wanted to escape death. "Alright, then we'll proceed with my other plan," Vik replied calmly. "What if it doesn't work?" Freya asked, her frustration seeping through. "Then we'll have another plan ready, just in case," he assured her. Freya sighed. "This is much more stressful than I thought it would be." she muttered to herself, not realizing Vik had heard her. "Do you want to relieve some of that stress?" he teased, his tone playful. Freya glared at him. "Excuse me?" Vik chuckled and stood up. "What will this princess do?" he taunted, walking towards her. "Oh, don't underestimate me Your Grace. I can do plenty," she replied, her gray eyes locking onto his mesmerizing golden ones. She noticed his hair wasn't gray but white, a rare and striking feature that suited him well. So lost was she in his handsome visage that she didn't realize how close they had already gotten. "Done staring?" he whispered, his cheeky smirk in place. Freya turned her head to the side, avoiding his gaze. "Can you back away now?" Vik, however, was enjoying her flustered reaction. Her gray eyes could captivate anyone who dared to look directly into them, but he was unfazed. He grabbed her waist, pulling her closer. Freya's heart nearly skipped a beat when their lips met again. Despite wanting to push him away, she couldn't. Her body refused to comply. Vik was like a black hole, drawing her in with irresistible force. As they pulled away from the kiss, Freya felt her face flush. "This is so bad, I never wanted to get kissed." Silence fell between them, their breaths mingling in the quiet. "Would you accept my reason that I don't really know why I keep doing this?" Vik finally replied. Freya felt a pang of disappointment. It wasn't the answer she had hoped for, but she couldn't be angry. Vik was undeniably attractive, and she just couldn't help but be drawn to his stirling aura. She pushed him away slightly and walked off. It was Zavier, he kept loosing her cool and replacing it with guilt. She felt bad about not asking him to break off their engagement right away. "Freya! Have I upset you?" Vik called after her, moving closer. Freya scoffed. "Yeah you did, this is wrong I am still engaged to someone. Could you please minimize that lust of yours?" This made Vik chuckle. "Not for so long, the two of you will have to break it off since I entered the picture." He's right. Any moment now Zavier would have to break it off with her after numerous rumors circulating around her having a secret relationship with someone else reaches Zavier. Though, it may already have. "I feel so bad." She stated, Vik then hugged her from the back. "I entered this novel for unknown reasons and I want to live, I want to be free to run around eating cakes and doing some other things." "I may not get what you mean but being bad at times is a necessity to get what you want." He said having this smirk on his face. "You can choose to be the bad person and dispose of him, making me the heir of the throne and I shall make you my Empress. ."
