Chapter 6 The Rescue

We were on our way to where ever he was going for the funeral, all I knew was we had six hours to drive, so I fell asleep.

I don't know how long we had been driving but I had to use the bathroom super bad.

" Sir I have to use the bathroom is there anywhere we could stop?" I asked.

"Yeah, there's a rest stop up ahead. Five minutes later we pull into the rest stop, I hurried and got out and went into the bathroom.

When I was done I got back into the van and I shut my eyes again this time I was acting like I fell asleep that way he couldn't talk to me anymore.

"Hey Indiana wakes up here," he said while tapping me.

" Indiana," he said again.

"Yes sir," I said.

"Since we're right on schedule so I decided instead of sleeping in the van tonight we might as well be in a hotel and get some sleep, or you can take a shower whatever you want to do, I know I'm getting some sleep," he said.

" Okay sir," I said.

We headed into the hotel it was so beautiful and really huge When we got up to the counter I noticed that some of the staff were looking at me weirdly, I noticed that they weren't making it noticeable but I noticed.

"Excuse me can we get a room with two beds please for my daughter and me," He asked.

" Yes we can do that for you, sir, How are you going to be paying today cash or card," the lady asked.

"Cash," he said.

He paid and then we headed up to the room but as we walked away I couldn't help but notice the staff were still looking at me again.

We got to the room, he opened up the door, and we walked in.

He went straight to the television and turned it on, then he laid down on the bed and turned on a movie, I went and took a shower.

When I got done with my shower, got dressed, and then I went over to the other bed and laid down to get ready to go to sleep.

I pulled the book out that he gave me. I thought it looked good, I got into the bed and started reading when breaking news came on, they were talking about me and me getting kidnapped. When I looked over he was asleep I was so glad he didn't see it because who knows what he would have done to me.

I got back into the bed and clicked off the television and read when I fell asleep.

I was sleeping when I heard faint knocking on the door, at first I thought someone was knocking on another door by us until I jumped when I heard the second knock which was much louder.

I walked over to the door and opened it. At first, I was shocked to see police standing there but then I got really happy because this was my chance to get away.

"Indiana is there someone in there with you," they asked.

I shook my head yes I could hear one of the officers go over his radio and say we got her, then they gently grabbed my arm and took me into the hall.

" Indiana comes with u you are in good hands and relaxes your safe with us he can't hurt you anymore," the officer said.

"It's great to see you guys, thank you so much. How did you guys find me?" I asked.

" The hotel called us and said they noticed you from the news," the officer said.

All I could do was break down from the situation. I could see people out the corner of my eye, when I looked up the masked man was walking past me in handcuffs.

"Excuse me is there any way I could see his face before he goes, I would like to know who it is please?" I asked.

" Sure you can," the officer said.

The officer turned him around to face me and they took off his mask.

"That's my stalker you were there on my birthday, you were at my school, I had so many phone calls and texts from you, I hope you go to jail for the rest of your life for what you have done to me," I told him.

" I'm done thank you," I said.

"Has anyone told my parents I'm okay, safe, and alive yet?" I asked.

"Yes we have and they're on their way to get you, but first we need you to come with us to the station because we need a written statement on everything that happened to you and anything else you may know," one of the officers said.

I got into the officer's car and we drove to the Police Department to write out a police report. When I was done I went to the lobby and waited for my parents to get there.

While I was waiting on my parents I fell asleep.

"INDIANA," my mom yelled.

I opened my eyes, got up, and ran right into my mom's arms.

"Boy did I miss you guys," I told them.

" Well guess what there are two things, we missed you more," mom said.

I laughed followed by pain after.

"Oh dear I'm sorry honey I'm sorry you're in pain and I won't stand here and tell you I know what you are going through because that would be a lie but I can be a good listener if you ever want to talk about anything I'm here for you," mom said.

"Oh by the way I got something for you and thought you would like it," mom said

" what is it?" I asked.

" You mean who," mom said.

Then out of nowhere out not only River was here but Justice and my cousin Xavier.

Wow, I am so happy to see all of you guys.

I looked up at everyone and they were crying.

" come on you guys stop crying I'm here alive that's all that matters, and I know what you guys are staring at it's okay they will eventually heal, so come on you guys cheer up and let's go home.

We were on our way home and we had six hours to drive so I decided to ease their curious minds and tell them everything the guy did to me, every last detail. My dad looked like he wanted to turn around and go hurt him but he didn't he knows it's in the police and God's hands now.

"God thank you, thank you, thank you I am forever in debt to you for what you did for me and the others that helped rescue me.

My mom hands me my phone, and I call the number of the hotel we just left I forgot to thank them I know that's who helped me just by the way they were staring at me.

When they answered I asked them was there any way they could put their phone on speaker for a minute. I could hear it in their voice that they were confused about my request but they did it anyway.

Hello, everyone, My name is Indiana and I was the one you helped save from my kidnapper, and I will forever be indebted to you, you're my hero and if you don't mind I would love to meet every last one of you who helped me. you guys are now my family God bless you and again thank you.

I could hear them crying,

" Well we wanted to tell you your welcome and your our family now too and of course, we would love to meet you and you have it backward you are our hero, you are stronger than I could ever be we have to go but let's continue to talk because you are stuck with us now you have a good night sweetie and thank you for calling us bye," they said.

"Okay, you too and bye," I said. Then I hung up.

We pulled up to our house I was so happy to be back home. I went inside, went up to my room got in my bed, and went to sleep.

I took a month off from school to have a break and to be able to let my wounds heal but I went back to school where everyone lined up and they all welcomed me back I couldn't help but start crying it was so sweet and the dance team welcomed me with open arms and they let me keep my position.

I was finally back to my old self again even though I get nightmares and I still have ways to go I didn't let it stop me I'm still my loving self matter of fact I think that situation helped me become stronger and wiser than I was before I am so proud of myself.
