Chapter Twelve I went to my room and sat on the floor, waiting for a knock at the door that never came. Dad and Mum talked in low voices. For once I didn’t try to listen. At last I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was hungry. I walked out and found Mum and Weaponry sitting together at the kitchen table. There was no chocolate cake this time. Weaponry must not have let Mum know she was coming. Mum rose and left the room. ‘Take a seat, Dance,’ said Weaponry. I hesitated. ‘Mum’ll be right back.’ Weaponry shook her head, but didn’t let her hair shield her face this time.
