The Prince’s Curse

CHAPTER 2

After his encounter with the woman he had abused, Logan began to experience strange feelings. He disregarded the new feelings he was experiencing because he believed the wine makers had altered the way they produced alcohol and that it was stronger. One morning when he woke up, he could smell fresh blood in his chambers, which had never happened before. He contacted Aiden and inquired, "How is it that I can smell blood from my chambers, is anything happening outside my door?" The question from Logan astonished Aiden. The servants had killed a cow that morning, but he was surprised how the prince could have known that since the kitchen was far from the prince's room. “No, your majesty, nothing is happening outside your chamber”. Days passed and Logan began being worried; he felt more energized, he could perceive and hear things from far away. This worries made him drink more, he ignored his princely duties, king Alfred noticed the prince was drinking more now, the king’s men began asking questions. Rumors spread round the kingdom, that the prince was still as incompetent as he was before the coronation, they were convinced he put on a show to be a better person so he could be crowned the prince of Marshshore. “Your majesty, you sent for me”. Logan said. “Yes, my prince, I was told you do nothing but drink, what is going on. As a prince of Marshshore you have duties to perform that will help you rule as a wise king one day, do better”. King Alfred said. Logan replied his father, “your highness, I apologize if my ways has caused you to worry, I have not been myself since the banquet, I think I was poisoned, everything does not feel right anymore”. The king said to him, “no one would dare poison the crowned prince, such person will be beheaded, have you seen the royal physician? Some of his herbs can help you feel better”.

Prince Logan spend time worrying if the lady’s curse actually had an impact on him, he called Aiden to find the lady, she has to undo whatever it is she has done to me. He began going to the library more often than usual to find out about werewolves, if they actually exist, he found nothing. Logan became very sensitive to everything; touch, he could perceive scent from miles away, plates clattering from the kitchen whenever the chefs prepared the royal meal, their footsteps and noise from the servant quarters. His swordsmanship became more faster and better. His worries made him drink more and felt frustrated since he couldn’t find out anything about the lady’s curse.

Aiden went into the kingdom finding the lady as the prince instructed him to, it was a hard search he didn’t know her name, which village she was from, who her father is, the only identity of the lady he had was her look. He met an artist and describe her looks to him and he was able to sketch her out perfectly well, no one had seen the lady before. Aiden met a little child Cyrus who begged in the market, people told Aiden he might to get some information from the boy, nothing happens in Marshshorehe didn’t know about. “Hey boy, do you know this lady?” he said showing the boy the sketch he had with him, the boy refused to answer Aiden and he thought of giving him some coins maybe that would make him say something, “I do not know who she is, I haven’t met her before, maybe if you have a name that can help”. Cyrus replied. The answer Aiden got was not what he expected and he collected the coin from the boy, “you shouldn’t have this coin since you couldn’t give me any information, other villagers said you know most things that happen around here, they were wrong about that”. Aiden said, the boy left where he was and started running away, it seemed suspicious to Aiden why the boy acted that way and he followed him. “Hey boy wait, why are you running?” Cyrus screamed while running, “you are as wicked as your master, you could not even leave the coin for me, go ask your prince what he did to the lady and stop stressing yourself looking for what you will not find”. Aiden stopped chasing the boy and thought to himself, could it be the prince forced himself on the beautiful lady? He knew this is something the prince did to any lady that refused him but why is he looking her? One of the guards that went on the search with him was with the prince the day of the banquet he asked him, “what happened on the night of the banquet when the lady went to see the prince in his chambers?” Aiden asked the guard, “we heard the lady screaming, we tried to find out what was going on and the prince said he had everything under control and ordered us to throw her out of the palace, she was crying at the time, we did not ask any question, we only followed orders”. One of the guards replied. Aiden rushed back to the palace to talk to the prince. “Can you tell me the exact reason why you are looking for the lady you abused? Is she responsible for how you have been feeling lately?” He met Logan sitting on the floor close to his bed crying, he said to Aiden, “I think I have gone mad, the things I am feeling is too much for me to handle, the lady said I do not deserve to live as a man that I will be a man wolf, have you heard of such before? Did you find out her name? Did you find her? I know absolutely nothing about that woman but I hurt her, I allowed myself to be carried away by lust and alcohol”. Aiden had never seen the prince that sad before, he knew him to be a happy and lively person. “Your majesty, I found nothing about that woman, I heard you say man wolf, I have heard of such in my village but I was younger, a certain old man used to tell us stories about men transforming to part wolf and part human, but I did not know it could be real, tomorrow is the full moon and they turn to wolf on full moon, I think you should tell the king about this”. Aiden said. Logan asked Aiden to leave his room he wanted to be alone, he could not mention that to his father, he would be very furious if he knew he defiled a lady. It was something the king had always warn him against, if the queen heard of what he did she will not be happy with him. His parents had taught him to respect women, how will he tell them he got cursed from such.
