"Please nurse..." James pleaded, his voice trembling with desperation. His heart sank to his stomach as she kept the papers in a drawer beneath her desk. "I sympathize with you, sir. But there's nothing I can do to help you," The nurse said with a sympathetic tone. She saw the broken look in his eyes and lowered her gaze. She would have given in if her job and entire career weren't at risk. "The only advice... I can give to you is to contact her close relatives," She muttered softly, hoping to see some hope in his eyes. But unfortunately, there was none. "My wife... I mean my ex... Amanda's parents are dead, and her brother has been missing for years now. I'm her only family," James responded with a quivering voice. He could feel a hard lump in his throat, one that was caused by guilt.
