I didn’t wait for them to come to me again.

By noon the next day, I had already set everything in motion. Elena and Thomas worked through the legal channels while Marcus handled security. Within hours, every account connected to Sophia’s family was frozen. Old business deals they had been trying to push through suddenly collapsed. Their remaining allies began pulling away one by one.

But I knew that wasn’t enough.

Sophia needed to face me directly.

I sent her a single message through a private channel Marcus had found.

**Meet me at the old warehouse by the river. Tonight. Come alone.**

She replied two hours later with only two words.

**I’ll be there.**

That evening, I stood inside the same warehouse where Marcus had first shown me the truth about Sophia. The single light bulb still hung from the ceiling. The air was cold and smelled like metal and dust.

Marcus waited outside with his people. He hadn’t wanted me to come alone, but I needed to do this myself.

At exactly nine o’clock, the door opened.

Sophia walked in. She looked different from the confident woman who had paraded around the mansion. Her hair was messy, and there were dark circles under her eyes. She wore a simple black coat and kept her hands in her pockets.

She stopped a few steps away from me.

“You finally stopped hiding,” she said.

“I was never hiding,” I replied. “I was waiting.”

Sophia gave a bitter laugh.

“You think you’ve won because you have your precious building and your father’s name back. But you have no idea what you’ve started. Victor Lang’s people won’t stop just because you froze a few accounts. They’ll come for you again. And next time, they won’t just try to burn a building.”

I took a step closer.

“I know. That’s why I’m ending this tonight.”

Sophia’s eyes narrowed.

“What are you talking about?”

I pulled out a small drive from my pocket and held it up.

“This contains every piece of evidence we have against you and your family. Every illegal deal. Every connection to Victor Lang. Every attempt to destroy what was left of the Alaric name. I’ve already sent copies to the authorities and to every major news outlet. By morning, there will be nowhere left for you to hide.”

Sophia’s face went pale.

“You’re bluffing.”

I shook my head.

“Check your phone.”

She pulled out her phone with shaking hands. Her eyes widened as she read the messages coming in. News alerts. Legal notices. Her family’s accounts being seized.

When she looked back at me, there was real fear in her eyes.

“You don’t understand what you’re doing,” she whispered. “They’ll kill you for this.”

I met her gaze without flinching.

“They already tried. And they failed.”

Sophia took a step back. For the first time since I had known her, she looked small.

“What do you want from me?” she asked.

I looked at her for a long moment.

“I want you to disappear. Leave the city. Leave the country. If I ever see your face again, or hear that you’re trying to hurt anyone connected to me, I will make sure you spend the rest of your life in prison. This is the only mercy I’m offering you.”

Sophia stared at me.

Then, without another word, she turned and walked out of the warehouse.

I stood there alone for a while after she left.

Marcus came in quietly.

“It’s done?” he asked.

I nodded.

“It’s done.”

He walked over and stood beside me.

“You handled that better than most people would have.”

I looked around the old warehouse one last time.

“I didn’t do it for revenge,” I said. “I did it so I can finally stop looking over my shoulder. So I can start living.”

Marcus was quiet for a moment.

“And what do you want that life to look like?”

I turned to him.

“I don’t know yet,” I answered honestly. “But I know I want you in it.”

He smiled, small but real.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

For the first time in a very long time, I allowed myself to believe that the worst was truly behind me.

The trap I had spent years building had finally closed.

And I was still standing.
