Episode 8

Day of the interview

BEEP BEEP! my alarm went off

I yawned before coming out of bed and headed to the bathroom to get ready for my interview. I took a shower then dried my curly hair letting it fall on my back. I then put some light makeup and my pinkish lip gloss and walked to the closet to dress up

I decided to wear a white, short sleeved, midi dress and black stilettos to go with it. After I was done dressing up I grabbed my black purse putting my phone and some money inside before going downstairs for breakfast

Diamond was still sleeping and I didn't want to disturb her so I made some breakfast for me and her then left it on the counter

I left the apartment and shutting the door behind me and walked took a lift and walked outside the building. I took a taxi to the Forbes Radio Interprises

I got there in about 20 minutes and I walked inside the building and to the reception

'Hello again, i'm here for an interview with Mr Forbes' I said

'Ok, whats your name?' she asked 

'Elanor Jones' I said

She typed something on her computer for a few seconds then said' Thank you Miss Jones, You'll be seen shortly just take a sit in the waiting area' she said giving me a smile

'Thank you' I said walking towards the waiting room and taking a seat. 

The longer I waited the more anxious I got. A few minutes passed and Alexander came down with a smile on his face. 'Elanor, you look good' he said

I took a deep breath before standing up and smiling at him' Hello Mr Forbes and thank you' I said

'I'm impressed' he said being flirtatious

For some reason I couldn't find the right words to say. He looked very professional in his suit!

'I am sorry for keeping you' he said

'Its fine' I said back

'Don't be nervous. am not going to be hard on you unless you want me too' he said while giving me a wink

(What! Either he is flirting with me or I have the dirtiest mind ever) I thought in my head

'I don't mind' I answered

The receptionist came running past the door and stood near us breathing loudly

'Sir' she said

'What is it' Alex replied concerned just like I was

'The chief executive of Sirius FM wants to see you she said

'Can't it wait, I am doing interviews right now' he said

'He said its important' she replied

'ok tell him I will be with him in a minute' he said rolling his eyes

The receptionist nodded her head and walked back out but in a fast pace

'Looks like I won't be interviewing you today. I was actually looking forward to it. Instead my assistant manager will interview you' he said sounding a little disappointed

'Ok then' I said

'Good luck' he said and walked out of the waiting room

(Oh shoot! He was going to interview me now i'm even more nervous) I thought

'Hello my name is Xavier, I will be interviewing you today hope you are ready' I heard a familiar deep voice say

I turned around my breathing getting caught in my lungs as I realised who it was

HE WORKS HERE?!

He kept a serious facial expression

He wore a neat pressed Armani suit, the kind you only see on high priced lawyers or gangsters. His striking seductive eyes looked expressionless. It was like he saw right through  me, as if he didn't give a f**k that I was standing in front of him

'Is there a problem?' he asked kicking me out of my thoughts

Alright, I don't think he remembers me which is a good thing I am still nervous though

Wait

I could have sworn  his name was Xavier... or maybe has a twin?

'How long are you going to stand here?' he asked

'Sorry' I said

'Anything wrong?' he asked

'Nothing wrong, just experiencing painful period cramps' I said looking for an excuse

He glared at me as if I was on drugs or something making me regret what just came out of my mouth

(You i***t! You didn't just say that)

'Lets not waste anymore time, follow me' he said with a professional tone

I followed him trying to keep up with his pace

Something tells me today isn't gong to be a good day

'So Elanor, Tell me a bit about yourself. What do you do?'

I...I'm currently unemployed and just want a job to earn money' I lied

'Just to earn money?' He said crossing his arms

'Yup' I said a bit embarrassed

'Ok then' he said rolling his eyes

'Can you list your strengths?' he asked

'I posses the ability to remain calm, organized and focused under pressure. I am creative and quite tech-savvy. I have a good organization skills and have the ability to work flexibly and independently, and easily know how to entertain the others'

'Thank you Elanor, those are great strengths indeed but what weaknesses do you have?' he asked 

'I am a perfectionist'  said

'Interesting' he said showing no emotion

'So Elanor, tell me about your experience. Have you worked in the media industry before? If so what is your experience?' he asked

'Uh..  don't have experience' I muttered 

'Right' he said

'But I am very eager to learn. I do believe  have what it takes to excel in your company' I added

'Though it's not essential to have experience, we would like someone who knows a lot about Radio production' he said

'Which  do' I replied

'Do you know how to generate a good amount of listeners, operate cameras and use technical equipment?' he asked

'Not exactly' I shyly said

'Okay we are finished hear,' he said rolling his eyes

'Thank you for coming in. We're still interviewing more candidates so if you are successful you'll receive a call from us in the next few day' he said

'Than you for your time' I said

(That doesn't sound very promising) I thought as I exited his office

Yeah, I felt like crap! I thought  the interview was going to going so well until he dropped the last question. Who am I kidding? I am probably up against people who have tons of experience

I was stood at the corridor when Alex walked towards me

'Hey Elanor' he said with a smile

And there he was. Alexander Forbes. Just standing there looking so perfect. Hs flawless skin and devilish grin was very attractive and captivating. He had such a handsome face and a body so huge and perfect it could be illegal

I have to admit whenever he gave me eye contact my heart raced. I didn't know whether he was flirting with me or just being nice but either way, I kinda enjoyed his presence

There s something more dangerous than a man that knows he is handsome. 'How are you feeling' he asked

'I am feeling fine Mr Forbes' I replied

'I told you, call me Alex' he said

'Right' I said

'How do you think your interview went? he asked

'To be honest not good' I said a little bit sad but I had a smile on  my face

'What makes you think that?' he asked

'Just have a feeling' I said facepalming my forehead

'Can I aske you something?' I asked

'Sure' he said

'Out of curiosity, how does the recruitment process work. Like who decides to recruit the applicants?'  asked

'The man you just saw, Xavier. He does all the work' he said

'When my schedule isn't hectic, which is rare I interview potential candidates. Overall Xavier and the rest of my recruitment team make that final decision' he said

'Oh...  thought the company manager makes the decision' I said

'In majority of workplaces yes, However we operate a bit differently' he said

'Since the company is huge, I have different departments which is hold over 1000 employees. Unfortunately I simply don't have the time to go around and interview everybody, mainly my recruit team and Xavier handle the applications'

'Shane is great at selecting good applicants, he can read people very well' he said
