Gwen
The mages from the Great Library stood in a line facing Havengarde.
Gwen glanced at them, then turned her attention to the stone walls that protected the castle. She shifted her stance impatiently as she waited for Kalan to contact his sister. Despite her initial aggravations with the man, he had quickly proven his worth and had become her trusted right hand.
She looked over her should. Lyra still hadn’t returned. She’d told Kalan she was going to find food, but that had been a few hours ago. The dragon should have been back by now. Gwen was worried something had happened to her and offered a silent prayer on her behalf, hoping that she hadn’t been caught by dragon hunters.
“Good news,” Kalan said as he approached.
