CHAPTER 4 Conal There was little grumbling during the night as the combined forces of Conal’s army moved silently north, hoping to blunt Torian’s incursion in time to save what remained of Sorcha’s regiment. He was surprised at the determination and speed of the dwarven soldiers keeping pace with the taller human soldiers of Lorkan’s army. In the early hours just before dawn, the forward scouts sent word back that they made contact with Sorcha’s rear elements and that Torian’s forces had paused their pursuit to lay waste to the city of Blasingdon, allowing her to regroup and break contact with the enemy.
