Every cell in my body froze in shock as I turned around to see Aston standing behind me with a smirk on his face and rage blistering in his eyes. When I turned back to face Nate, the smile was no longer on his face. Instead he was looking at me like he’d made a mistake by talking to me in the first place. “E—excuse me?” He said, his brow furrowed in a mixture of confusion and disbelief. “He doesn’t mean that,” I tried to say even though we all knew Aston was right. “Actually, that’s exactly what I mean,” Aston said, pulling out a chair adjacent to me and sitting down, his eyes leveled with Nate. “Would you mind being a bit clearer,” Nate said and I swear I wanted the ground to open and swallow me whole right now because I doubt I’d be able to bear the humiliation.
