Beep… beep… beep… beep.
My eyes flickered open, then closed, then open again.
“Argh… what’s that sound, Maddox?” I mumbled with a sleepy voice, still half lost in slumber.
I stared blankly at the chandelier above me for what felt like ten whole seconds. My head shifted slowly, left, then right.
Wait… I’m in my room? I checked the time. It was exactly 8:00 p.m.
I shot upright, sitting straight on the bed as the realization hit me.
I was at a date, right? Yes… with Maddox.
Then my eyes dropped to what I was wearing. The same casual clothes from earlier today.
“What’s all this?” I whispered.
I sank back down, clutching my temples, trying to connect the dots.
