The police officers just sped past us after King like we weren't standing here.
"Deja, get your stuff, you staying with me." Josè said. She went to grab her bag and I walked to the car. As I grab the car door, I heard tires screeching and I tried to look to see what happened but I couldn't.
"Yo, what was that?" I yelled. Nobody answered. The first thing that went through my head was Laila. Maybe that was the vehicle she was in. Or maybe it was one of the cop cars. I shook that thought away and opened the door and went into the back.
