The Ones Against Us

CHAPTER 16

"Come on son! Faster!" My father Roberto said as he swung his feet at me,

"Hold on! Your too fast!" I chuckled while I dodged his kick.

"Furia! Sweetie? Can you hand us a glass of water?" My dad yelled from a distance,

"Okay!" Furia yelled back as she led her book down and ran inside the house.

A woman, who came out of the cabin wearing a lovely drop waist white dress as she walked towards us holding a pair of towels. My mom, Nevida.

"Look at you two, you're all sweaty," she said as she wiped our faces. She smiled at us nonstop. I had no idea why until my father detected a lump on her stomach.

His pupils dilated and he whispered.

"You're pregnant?" he murmured, touching her bellyy.

In response, she giggled and nodded.

"My wife is pregnant!" My father joyfully extends his arms in the air and screamed.

"How-how long? Is it a girl or a boy?" He then asked and knelt on the infant.

"About six weeks... perhaps?",

"I'm not sure yet... but I chose two names just in case" she replied.

"What names are those exactly?" I inquired as I fixed my gaze on her.

"If it's a girl, I'll name her Cydney... and if it's a boy I'll name him Cydee" My mom said as she brushed my hair,

"We're having another baby!?" My sister hurried towards us with excitement, holding a couple of glasses of water in her hands.

"How did you find out?" I asks, as she handed me the drink.

"I have ears Zire!" She said agressively.

"All right, everyone inside, it's getting dark," my mother spoke as we exited the field.

As stars shine from above the dark blue sky and owls whistles from between the tall greenish trees, every border of the cottage is lit by a candle.

My mother kisses her goodnight to both of us, but before she leaves, she sits on the side of my bed and tells me,

"You're going to take over your father's position fairly soon," she remarked as she combed my hair once more.

In answer, I smiled.

"Have you always wanted to be a captain?" she inquired.

"Sure, but what if I don't earn it? What if I don't succeed?" I questioned.

"Don't say that, nothing is impossible, and if you feel like giving up, remember why you're pursuing that goal" she added, tucked my blanket underneath my body, turning the lights off as she exited our room.

During his remembrance, the captain listened to the river tides and the cool air pouring by as he pondered some of his most treasured moments. When he senses a movement behind him, he snatched his firearm hanging from his chest.

With his revolver in hand, he pointed it towards his younger brother, who had a pine green blanket around his shoulders who was standing there with both of his hands raised up. He sighed in relief as he led his g*n downwards.

"It's just me" Cydee shrugged his shoulders.

"You nearly scared the hell out of me" Zire said.

"Why are you up anyway? You should be sleeping!" He follows.

"I can't sleep..." the child mumbled as he joined his brother on the shore of the lake.

Silence had settled between them as Cydee cleared his throat, interrupting the calmness that had been enclosing the brothers.

"I wanted to say that... I'm sorry," the junior grumbled, glancing at his older brother.

"What are you apologizing for?" Zire asked, returning his eye contact.

"For the actions you did the other day?",

The boy was about to speak when he was preceded by the captain.

"I understand you're outraged. Just don't raise your voice at your elders" Zire remarked, his sight focused ahead.

Cydee responded with a nod of his head.

"What's the time now? Greer asks as he gets out of his sleeping bag.

Furia replied, staring at the bright sunny sky. "Probably around eleven thirty in the morning."

"Cydney?" Cydee gazed over at his sister as they sat on the edge of the plane together, In return, she gave him a quick glimpse.

"How long do you think we're missing out of school?" The boy asks.

"Could be a day or so? No need to worry, I'll take care of your professor and the coach for you" she responded with a smile on her face, as the junior shaked his head in response.

"I should definitely get on moving, my staff must have been looking for me," Kierra says, keeping both of her arms.

"We'll take you there" Furia requested.

"Oh, I really appreciate it, but it's too much, and you guys have more major problems to deal with" the specialist answered.

"No honestly, let us take you there, after all, you helped us anyway" Zire agreed as he boarded the ship.

The captain then ordered everyone to return to the cruise, and they soon left the forests. Their habitat has been completely demolished, with some constructions being pulled apart and routes being rived aside.

They landed in front of the Dome Laboratory, the area is peaceful, with only a few people going along the street. Kierra worriedly ran into the laboratory as the team exited the aircraft.

The crew tracked her down, and everything inside has been swept away. Some of the workers are lying on the ground, and broken pieces of glass and windows are scattered everywhere.

"Miss Kierra!" An elderly man yelled. When she heard an elderly man's voice, she ran over him. He sat next to the counter.

"Mr. Phee! What happened? Are you all right?" She inquires as she assists him in getting up.

"The bots! They-they destroyed everything!" Phee stated frailly.

"They even wrecked the laboratory down! Our experiments and samples!" He said helplessly.

Kierra kneeled there as she overthink on how she will reciprocate her chemicals, as she looked over Cydee behind her, alongside with the others.

"Cydee! I need a sample of your blood" the specialist said while she stood up.

"Wait what's going on..." the boy asks with a frightened expression on his face.

"Find me a syringe and a cloth" Kierra requested,

"We'll never know if you have the same virus as Zire, so kindly give me a small sample of your blood!" The doctor added.

"Just don't hurt me" Cydee softly requests.

Cydney gave Kierra the syringes and cloth she had requested. She then rapidly inserted the needle into the boy's left leg.

"Ow!" he screamed in frustration "Holy mother of biscuits!" He said as he fought the pain back, "I asked you not to hurt me!" the youngster shouted.

"Sorry...this one isn't working...let me try the other" Kierra replies as she snatches and stabs another needle into the boy's leg.

"s**t!" Cydee yelled for the second needle.

"Hey! Watch your mouth!" Cydney exclaimed and glanced at her brother.

"I'm old enough to say that word!" The junior said as he rested on the floor,

While the other crew watched them, the specialist wrapped his leg with the cloth.

"Thankyou. Also, my apologies" Keirra obliged by patting the boy's head as she rose up.

"Your welcome..." the youngster murmured frustratingly.

"I'll contact and notify any of you about the results, it's been a honor meeting all of you," the specialist commented as she extended a handshake to each of them. The crew shaked back before they left, as they were outside. They took a minute to look around the place

"You do know that we're still being chased by Schmitz escorts, right?" Furia had questioned.

"Yeah, and?" Zire raised an eyebrow, questioning her instead.

"And? We need to get moving and a place to stay. Safe or not" she remarks.

The plane flew above the reddish-orange setting sun. The crew went about their duty as the captain took over flying the ship in Greer's absence.

"Cydney, find where the Beguine and Callahan is located" the captain ordered.

"On it" Cydney said, assembling her computers.

"You mean?..." Furia inquires as she views the cockpit.

"Undeniably, Deborah" Zire responded as he examined her in the mirror.

"I can't find where the Savinski Beguine is, the map has nothing to show." Cydney stated.

"How about Callahan?" the captain asked,

"She's... she's hidden?" Cydney said in confusion as she looked at the screen.

As everyone in the ship got curious as well.

"Hidden? What do you mean? She's supposed to be with her husband Allen? Right?" Furia questions,

"Yeah I know that, but she's locked up on a type of testing ground... we need to save her" Cydney said worriedly,

"Save her? Why would we do that? She might be a trap" Furia responded.

"Might be, well she's locked up on Ruinous Sanctum Exploratory..." Cydney stated as she continues to research,

"Wait. The Ruinous Sanctum Exploratory? That's some type of human to alien examination" Zire declared,

"Oh great. So we're talking to a specie now?" Furia exclaimed.

"She's full human yet she's part exotic... that's must be the reason why their experimenting her...poor thing" Cydney said in an awe,

"We're just going to talk to her right?" Furia asks.

"I guess that won't be easy" Cydney said as she showed everyone the screen.

The Ruinous Sanctum Exploratory is comprised of three structures, the main, the middle, and the aphotic chamber. The main is obviously the building's entrance and exit, whereas the center is where these species are being tested.

The aphotic chamber, often known as "The Dark Room" is where the creatures are confined, extraordinary and high-class species are being sold for their blood and body parts, then burning their remaining flesh afterwards.

The main building is encircled by five sentinels wearing battle uniforms and holding a handgun, while the other two are surrounded by seven sentinels.

As the screen displayed a variety of ID, a card membership of the radiochemistry, which is the transit through the reception area.

"We don't have any of those, but we're lucky since we have another passage besides the main" Cydney explained.

Cydney zoomed the screen on the side of the aphotic chamber, on the roof top that is coated in reinforced glass, and a beacon light set horizontally on each corner of the roof.

"So we're going to break in? What if the guards caught us? We need somebody inside there" Feint asks,

"Don't worry, I know exactly someone who" Furia remarked as she looked over at Cydee who was sitting calmly across them, as everyone's eyes followed.

"Oh... hey guys" Cydee murmured, noticing everyone staring at him.

The team didn't take their gaze away from the child.

"Okay?... Why are you all staring at me like that?" While looking at them, the youngster inquired,

The crew continued to stare at the child.

"Okay! I do not like where this is going!" As he pointed his finger at his troops, Cydee exclaimed.

As the captain activated the covert mode, the ship gradually maneuvered itself to the center of the aphotic chamber renovation. To make the aircraft appear more camouflaged, it was painted to blend in with the purplish blue sky.

"Ah! It's- too tight!" As Furia put the bulletproof vest around Cydee's back, the boy exclaimed.

"Do you want to have holes in your body? No right? So you have no choice but to resist it." Furia repeated herself as she fastened another lace on his vest.

"I could barely breathe!" The boy says while he walked towards the big doors,

As the youngster stands on the verge of the entryway. He gazed down as he attempted to overcome his phobia of heights, and he then accidently skidded as he dropped seventeen feet and landed through the pile of bushes and together with the lawn.

"Hey... you good?" Cydney inquires through the little device in her ear as she peered at the entry.

"I'm good... I'm good." Cydee responded as he brushed himself off the ground.

The junior then wandered around, assessing the area, and recognising that the front building is bordered by chain-link fences.

"Wait for my signal" Zire gave the command over the two-way radio, then signaled Greer to crawl under the ship while the soldier finished the job. He then purposefully fell while the senitels viewed his gestures.

"You! Put your hands up where we can see them!" Greer lifted both of his hands as one of the guards aimed their guns at the intruder.

"Now," the captain stated, as Cydney and Furia smashed the glass, shattering the pieces. The loud noise coming from the back of the building alarmed the senitels at the front.

As soon as Cydee detected their movements, he pushed the fence, causing a disturbance, while the guards changed their direction. While the light flashed across the boy's face, raising both of his hands up.
