I needed a break and I mean real one. The kind where your mind shuts up and your body finally stops aching.
After everything from Calista’s smug face,l to Damon’s hot and cold behavior and the possessive growls followed by the ridiculous tension between us, I needed to be alone just for a moment. Somewhere no one could pick at me or question my strength or toss around words like “you’re too small to be Damon’s second.” Somewhere quiet.
So I slipped into the sauna behind the training halls and not the regular one but the one tucked away near the healing quarters. Hardly anyone used it except warriors with injuries or muscle aches and this late in the afternoon most recruits were either showering or stuffing their faces in the mess hall.
