Willow. The sun had risen higher now burning through the early morning chill and heating up the grounds fast enough to make the air thick with dust and sweat. I adjusted my grip on the blade and squared off against the opponent in front of me who was some overly confident second year who thought he could land a blow on me just because he’d managed to survive the last round of elimination. I didn’t say a word. I never did before a fight. My silence was enough of a warning and from the way he swallowed hard and shifted on his feet, I knew he felt it. I lunged before he even finished blinking. A quick spin and a fake out ja then I swept his leg and brought him down with a thud that echoed across the clearing.
