CHAPTER 5I had a quick lunch at Tony’s, then went to the office and spent two hours going through her local address book. I copied out the names and addresses and phone numbers, if any, and where there was no number, I looked up the name in the phone book. Some numbers I couldn’t find. There were ninety-seven names of individuals and thirteen entries that were institutional, such as “Big Sisters—Lucy Hunt, etc.” Some of the addresses were in dingy areas of the city and prodded my curiosity. I drove to the Loop, went into the Public Library, and started through the files of the Tribune, culling items about Lorrie King, working backward from the story of her suicide.
