My face grew hot every time I thought of what happened on the field between Vic and I. Sadly because of it I have been avoiding Vic, Farley, and Cory. Clyde and Lily are the only people I have been talking to. I even got their numbers... Vic has been messaging me a lot. Farley has tried to walk with me I believe but I always make sure to lose him in the way. It's been almost a week now that I have been doing this. I've been even more awkward with Bookie and haven't talked to him much because of it.
My face was still hot as I sighed and buried most of my face in my pillow. I had to stop being so weird and finally face my friends. If I keep this up I might not have them as friends anymore. I sighed more leaning against the wall of my walk-in closet. I don't want to go many steps backward after taking so many forward. Besides, my birthday is coming up. Being sad on my birthday wouldn't be any good. I first I wanted to message was Bookie.
It was Saturday, and the new week was going to start soon. I clicked on Feather book, hoping that when I texted him he wouldn't be mad and that he'd answer. I typed and sent the message chewing my lip gently. I wonder if he's asleep if he doesn't answer. I shouldn't just jump to conclusions. What if dad noticed how weird I've been acting. I bet he has, he did start being parked right outside as soon as I got out. He only asked about school and stopped bringing up my friends and Book-
"Is everything alright?" dad asked popping out of nowhere and I jumped almost screaming. My heart was out of control but not in the usual way, making me grip my shirt.
"You scared me." I breathed out as my phone vibrated and he glanced at it.
"You're worrying me," he said frowning and walked over crouching down next to me on the floor.
"You never told me about the game." he began. "And whenever you leave school you look like you've been running all day." He said now slightly cracking a grin and I huffed burying my face in my pillow.
"Did something happen in the game?" I heard him ask and I glanced up.
"Yes..." I mumbled and messed up my hair.
"Are you going to tell me kiddo?" he asked gently and I sighed feeling heat rush to my cheeks slightly before I buried half of my face in my pillow.
"Umm...Vic kissed me." I said and dad's eyes went wide as saucers.
"Oh."
"Yeah..?" I said as he blinked then shook his head.
"What I mean is um...isn't he just your friend?" he asked.
"I don't know." I sighed feeling my cheeks get hot.
"Um....I'm going to make us breakfast." dad said getting up and I huffed.
"Dad! You're supposed to help me!" I yelled as he kept walking.
"This is a new century, I don't understand it so I'm staying out of it. Uh...so let me know what you decide, okay? I love you." he said giving me an awkward smile before he left as I glared.
I don't know what he was going on about. Now I am major confused. More confused then when I started. But two things I did know is that I must get my awkwardness from my dad. And the last thing is that I need to check if Bookie text back. I picked up my phone to see that he did. Relief slightly flooded me as I clicked on it.
BookerBooker: Hey? Are you okay?
I don't know why but my heart flips flop. The corners of my lips rose and my cheeks heated up. I began to text back.
CyberGeek: Sorry, I am now. A lot just happened. I am still working things out in my brain.
BookerBooker: Do you want to talk about it?
CyberGeek: Um..I'm not sure. If I do I will come to you. But I don't want to drag you into my drama.
BookerBooker: Lol, okay. But you can come to me if you need to. A lot is going on with me too.
My cheeks go hotter. My heart pounced and flip-flopped. I buried my face slightly in my pillow. This feeling I didn't quite understand but I didn't hate it. I seriously needed help but I didn't want to weird Bookie out with asking about this. Dad is too awkward to help most likely. Mom I don't want to bother, plus an doesn't want me talking to Bookie. That thought made my heart stutter, aching immediately. But maybe I can talk to Clyde or Lily.
CyberGeek: Thanks *grins then rubs your head* I'm sorry to hear that.
I realized what I typed after I sent it. My face heated up and I knew he would think it was weird. Why didn't I read it before sending it? My phone vibrated soon after.
BookerBooker: Lol *grins back* it's okay.
My heart was being attacked. I don't know why but him grinning back made me want to dance. Like get up and dance. But I can't even dance.
CyberGeek: So what are you up to?
I sent it and then went to the original messages on my phone. I couldn't decide who I should text first, Farley or Vic? I was still thinking as I got two notifications. One from Vic than the other from Bookie. I chewed my lip and just decided to text Bookie back after I text Vic.
Vic:
Oakely..? I'm sorry please talk to me.
I frowned as a bad feeling ran through my body. Was it guilt wasn't it? I began to text back right away.
Me:
No, I am so sorry. I ignored you which is the total opposite I wanted to do to you, Farley, and Cory. I didn't even sit at lunch with you guys.
Vic:
You finally answered! I'm so sorry about what happened the game. Can we still be friends? I was just so happy and I didn't exactly react in the best way. That was your first kiss too, wasn't it?! Ugh, I'm so sorry, I was not thinking straight.
My face grew hotter the more I read. I didn't know how to feel or what to say. I stared at my phone and reread the message while thinking. I finally figured out what to say kinda.
Me:
It is okay, I am sorry for not answering. Of course, we can still be friends. I don't want anything to ruin my friendships. And yes that was my first kiss but do not worry! Um..can I ask a question?
My face was burning and my heart was being weird. I fanned my face glancing at Bookie's message. I wanted to reply back but I needed to at least finish talking to Vic then I'd message back. But I would also have to talk to Farley. I wanted to talk to Cory too... but I didn't have his number. I wonder if Vic did? But no time for that right now, I'll just try to talk to Cory at school maybe.
Vic:
Great! And shoot for it
Me:
Why did you kiss me?
Vic:
Is it not obvious?
Me:
Uhh.
Vic:
I like you, that's why.
My heart was once again being attacked but not at a full force usually. My face was still burning but I smiled.
Me:
I like you too.
Vic:
XD nevermind Oakely, I think you mean it in another way.
I blinked but he said he liked me. I like him too, of course, we are friends. What would another way he mean?
Me:
Oh um okay? Well, see you at school!
Vic:
Yea okay
I soon clicked on Bookie's message. I leaned against the wall relaxed a bit. I read Bookie's message humming to myself.
BookerBooker: Just texting you and other people. You?
CyberGeek: Same
BookerBooker: Same what?
CyberGeek: *huffs* I'm sure you know
BookerBooker: That I do :) but I want you to say it lol.
CyberGeek: You make more work for me, I already get work from school and to do there *pouts*
BookerBooker: Lol *ruffles your hair*
My heart flip-flopped going at a nice pace. I guess my face was going to stay hot. I giggled feeling the corners of my lips rise. But I guess that was okay.
CyberGeek: I-I am no kid.
I soon texted Farley when dad called me for breakfast. I took my phone with my walking out my walk-in closet, out of my room then went down the stairs. Dad had made oatmeal and was already eating without me. I huffed sitting down and began to eat as my phone vibrated. Farley has messages back, I quickly clicked on it.
Farley:
Are you okay now? Why wouldn't you answer? Do you know how worried I was?
I frowned biting down on my lip hard. I started to chew it while texting. Guild has once come back. I guess dad noticed something was up because he stopped looking down at his oatmeal while eating but glanced up at me with a quirked eyebrow. I waved my hand to reassure him that I was fine and he nodded. I ate some of my oatmeal sending the text.
Me:
Yes, I think so. I am sorry for not answering I was very conflicted I guess. I assumed you, Vic, and Cory was very worried.
Farley:
I'm just glad your okay now. Don't do that again, come talk about things.
Me:
That's what I wanted to do...but I did the opposite. I don't know why, please forgive me!
Farley:
Lol, you're very strange. It's okay, it was your first kiss after all. Vic is such a blockhead. I don't know why he thought that was okay.
Me:
Aww..I'm not that weird and awkward, am I? And it's okay, him and I talked.
Farley:
If you say so. And yes you are, but that's okay. I'm pretty awkward too.
I felt my phone vibrate. It was a text from Bookie. I knew I was smiling, not just because Bookie replied but because it seemed things were okay now. All I needed to do was talk to Cory. Now to think about it, I'm sure Lily has Cory's phone number. I decided to text everyone back first.
Me:
You? Awkward?
I honestly didn't think he was. I clicked on Bookie's message.
BookerBooker: Are you sure? *quirks an eyebrow*
CyberGeek: *huffs*
After replying back to those two I texted Lily. I greeted her, asked how she was doing, and what she was doing before I asked her for something. I don't exactly like coming to people for things, I usually feel bad when I do. Especially if it's the first thing that I say to them without even greeting them. She gladly gave me Cory's number through which I soon added to my contacts and sent a message to him. My phone vibrated, Cory and Farley have messaged back. Soon Bookie had messaged back as well. I should probably text Clyde after this.
Cory:
Um hi. Who is this?
Me:
Oh! I am sorry I forgot to say this was Oakely. I am also sorry about not speaking with you this past week.
Cory:
Oh, no it's okay. What's up?
I blinked at his reply. He seems very calm and relaxed. He looked angry that day. I am not sure why but I felt like I upset him. But I guess maybe not? Or he's cooled down now.
Me:
I just wanted to apologize, I thought I made you upset at the game.
Cory:
Oh... XD you didn't. Don't worry about it. Could you do me a favor?
A favor? Of course, I can! I should do this as an apology also. Then I will be satisfied and hopefully, Cory and I are still friends. I hope him and I can grow closer.
Me:
Of course! Whatever you want I shall do!
Cory:
Good, don't tell Vic I was at his game.
I tilt my head then furrowed my eyebrows. Why would he not want Vic to know he was at his game? I would think Vic would be happy to hear. Cory did say he was not going to come. Could that be the reason? It still doesn't make that much sense.
Me:
Oh, okay if that's what you want I can do that. Um...so we're still friends?
Cory:
Yea, also thanks.
