Khall sat there along with everyone else just staring at Jory. He must have felt the tension in the room at that moment, because he let out a small whimper and gripped Nugs’s forearm.
Surprisingly, Groth ran his hand soothingly down the Nakaka’s back, quietly saying, “There is nothing and no one to fear in this room, Jory. No one here will harm you or Nug, because they would have to get past me… I give my solemn vow… and if anyone ever tries to harm either of you, then you tell me and I will deal with them personally. This I also vow.”
Jory blinked, but never looked up. He was clearly as baffled by Groth’s vow as Nug, who only looked at Jory and shrugged, then shook his head.
