Chapter 8: Cohesion
Rory paced nervously as he waited for Stella to return. She would bring him the answer, and he wasn’t certain he was ready to hear it. Blaise watched him silently with one liquid black eye. It all mattered too much to him. His emotional self was compromised.
It seemed like forever before Stella returned, although it hadn’t been more than an hour.
“Has he decided?” he asked the moment she came through the door.
Stella sighed and shook her head. “He’s conflicted. I’ve never seen him like this before. I really think he will make the right choice, but…I can make no promises on his behalf.”
