Chapter 6 – Blood Under the Full Moon

785 Words
The cabin exploded into chaos. The shattered remains of the magical barrier scattered through the night like glowing shards of blue glass before fading into nothing. The Blood Fang wolves surged forward, their snarls shaking the forest. Asher's silver wolf lunged first. His enormous body crashed into the lead attacker, sending the wolf flying through the air. The impact splintered a massive oak tree. Malik's transformation finished seconds later. His midnight-black fur gleamed beneath the moonlight as he stood protectively in front of Ethan. His golden eyes burned with determination. No matter what happened tonight... No one would touch Ethan. The Blood Fang leader smiled. "There he is," he growled. "The future Alpha." He lifted his hand. "Kill anyone who stands in your way." More than twenty wolves charged. The forest erupted into violence. --- Ethan stumbled backward as two wolves rushed toward him from opposite sides. Before they could reach him, Malik sprang into action. He intercepted one wolf with a crushing blow of his massive paw, sending it crashing into the porch. The second wolf snapped its jaws at Malik's neck, but Malik twisted away and struck it with his shoulder. The wolf tumbled across the ground, whimpering. Ethan had never imagined such speed. Such strength. Such fury. Yet every time Malik attacked, he made sure Ethan remained safely behind him. Even as a beast... He was protecting him. --- Nearby, Asher fought three wolves at once. Years of battle had made him a fearsome Alpha. Every movement was precise, powerful, and efficient. He dodged snapping jaws, countered with devastating force, and drove his enemies back. Still... The Blood Fang wolves kept coming. "They're overwhelming us!" Evelyn shouted from the cabin doorway. She clutched an ancient staff carved with moon symbols and began chanting in the old language. Silver light spiraled around the weapon before bursting outward. Several attacking wolves were thrown backward by the magical shockwave. For a brief moment, silence returned. Then a cruel laugh echoed through the trees. The Blood Fang leader stepped forward. "You've grown weak, Evelyn." He transformed into his human form. He was tall and muscular, with pale gray eyes and long black hair tied behind his head. A jagged scar stretched across his face. "My name is Victor," he said, staring at Malik. "And I've waited seventeen years to finish what I started." Malik growled. "You murdered my parents." Victor smiled without remorse. "They died protecting a child." "It was pathetic." Rage exploded inside Malik. Ignoring Asher's warning growl, he charged. The two werewolves collided with enough force to shake the earth. --- Their battle carried them deeper into the forest. Victor fought with ruthless experience, using every opening to wound his younger opponent. His claws slashed across Malik's shoulder, drawing blood. Malik cried out but refused to retreat. He remembered his parents. His grandmother. Ethan. He couldn't lose. Victor knocked Malik against a boulder. "You fight with your heart," Victor sneered. "That's why you'll die." Before Victor could strike again, a loud voice echoed through the trees. "Enough!" Asher appeared between them. He faced Victor, his silver fur stained with blood but his posture unwavering. "This ends tonight." Victor laughed. "You still think you can defeat me?" "No." Asher's eyes narrowed. "I think we can." Behind him, Malik slowly climbed to his feet. For the first time, the young werewolf stood beside the Alpha—not as a frightened boy, but as a warrior. Victor's smile faded. --- Meanwhile, Ethan remained near the cabin. He touched the glowing crescent mark on the back of his neck. It pulsed with warmth. Suddenly, whispers filled his ears. Not voices from the forest. Voices from somewhere... older. "The Moon has chosen you..." "Remember..." "The gate must never be opened..." Ethan fell to his knees, clutching his head. Visions flooded his mind. He saw an ancient stone temple beneath a blood-red moon. Two werewolf packs kneeling before a glowing crystal. A young human standing between them. Then... The crystal cracked. Darkness poured into the world. Ethan gasped as the vision ended. His mark burned brighter than ever. Evelyn rushed to his side. "What did you see?" Ethan looked up, trembling. "I've seen this before..." "What do you mean?" "I don't know how..." "But that temple..." "It feels like I've been there." Before Evelyn could answer, the ground beneath the cabin began to tremble. A deafening c***k echoed through the valley. Far beyond the forest, high in the mountains, a pillar of crimson light burst into the night sky. Every wolf—friend and foe alike—turned toward it. Victor's smile returned. "The Blood Moon Temple..." "It's awakening." Asher's expression hardened. "We're already too late." End of Chapter 6.
