Chapter 14

I lead the group along the path we took yesterday, trying to pick up little clues here and there. So far, we had nothing.

We all went behind trees to shift, and I quickly stripped off my clothes and shifted into my wolf. I grabbed my clothes and threw them in my backpack, zipping it up with my teeth.

I grabbed the actual backpack in my mouth and ran out from behind my tree. Xander's huge black wolf was standing there along with Aiden. Ali and Tessa came out within the following minute.

We ran to the border and crossed it, and we all sniffed around, trying to catch Thomas' scent. Got it! Tessa said through the mind link. I went over to where she was sniffing and caught his scent too.

Come on, I said through the mind link, following my twin's scent. We all bolted off and followed the scent until the sun began to set, when we stopped and shifted into human form except Xander, who went hunting for dinner.

I got a fire started and soon Xander came back with a deer. The worst part of being a wolf was having to kill innocent animals. I once tried to become a vegetarian, but Lilly, my wolf, wouldn't have it.

I cooked the deer for everyone and we ate our dinner quietly, then shifted back in our wolf forms and continued to follow Thomas' scent.

As the sun began to rise, we reached the border to Quintons pack. We all shifted and clothed ourselves, but not before I puked up my dinner from the night before.

Xander held back my hair for me and soothingly rubbed my back. "Gross," I said, wiping my mouth when it felt like I was done.

"I don't know," Xander said, helping me up.

I shook off the feeling but Xander didn't look convinced but he followed my lead.

We didn't bother waiting for Quintons request onto his land; he didn't deserve that kind of respect and it's not like he came onto our lands with permission. We were able to sneak past the border patrol without being seen, and I followed Thomas' scent to the pack house.

"QUINTON!" Xander hollered, making everyone outside stop and look at us. The devil himself walked out of his pack house.

"I've been expecting you. Now, if you want your pack members back, I want mine back. I'd say it's a fair trade," he smirked.

"They're not coming back to this pack. They willingly came to our pack, you can't rule over them anymore," I shouted.

"Quinton, why are you doing this?" Ali begged.

"Because, my mate got taken away from me. She rejected me, and I never gave her permission too," he growled.

"You never cared for her, you bastard! You continued to sleep around and when she rejected you, you killed her! What kind of sick person does that!" Aiden roared, shifting into his wolf and lunging at Quinton.

Tessa screamed as Quinton easily threw him against a tree. She ran over to him and knelt down as he whimpered.

"Why are you doing this?" Ali cried.

"Your sister was an ugly b***h who doesn't listen to alpha's orders," he snarled. "Now, why don't you come back to my pack. Smith misses you dearly," Quinton said, an evil and sick smirk spreading across his face.

"You said you killed him!" Ali cried. Her shriek was so horrifying that even I shuttered, I have never heard somebody make that sound before.

"Oh, no. He's been alive this whole time," he said in a sick tone. I was fighting back the urge to smack that look right off his face.

"Where is he!" Ali begged. I looked over at Xander, who looked just as confused as I was. Who was Smith?

"In the cellars. But I wouldn't go down there if you want to be joining him," Quinton said. His smirk was making me sick to my stomach.

"Please let him go!" Ali begged, tears now pouring down her face.

Quinton shook his head. Then he turned back to me and Xander. Xan, shift on a count of three. Engage him in a fight and I'll shift from behind, I said through our mind link.

"Now, the alpha and luna."

One.

"You guys are going to be so fun to play with." He began to stalk towards us.

Two.

"Now, Taylor..."

Three!

Xander shifted and reached out his paw, three claw marks now visible on Quinton's right cheek. "BASTARD!" He hisses before shifting too.

While Quinton was preoccupied in the fight, I slowly backed away and wrapped around him. I shifted and crept up behind him.

I was about to jump on his back and bite into his neck, but he quickly turned around and bit my neck. Hard. I yelped in pain as his teeth were torn out of my neck, ripping a chunk of flesh along with it.

I watched as Quinton fought with Xander, my vision and hearing becoming very blurry. I could faintly here someone calling out my name, but I couldn't focus enough to know who it was.

Minutes passed by, and darkness filled my vision.

I opened my eyes and could faintly see an outline of shapes in front of me. I felt a squeeze on my hand and looked up, seeing Xander's voice.

"Oh thank god," he whispered, his voice hoarse. I could see tears running down his face, and it made my heart bubble that he was crying for me. But it also killed me inside to see him like this. I squeezed his hand back in reassurance.

I slowly sat up and looked around. Six other people were in the cell with us. "What happened?" I asked, my voice groggy.

"You're awake!" Thomas said quietly, running over to me and giving me a bone crushing hug. I whimpered as he bumped my neck, and he yanked himself away from me.

"Taylor!" Tessa said, hurrying over to us.

"You okay?" Xander asked me, and I nodded my head and gave his hand another squeeze.

I looked around, and Mia was standing behind Thomas, and Aiden was pulling Tessa towards him. Ali was snuggling in the corner with a man I didn't recognize.

She gave me a weak smile. "Taylor, this is my mate, Smith," she said, leaning her head on his chest. "And Smith, this is my best friend, Taylor."

"Nice to meet you," he said in a quiet voice. He seemed kind of shy but gave me a small, welcoming smile.

I smiled back and said, "Nice to meet you too." Xander pulled me in between his legs so that my back was resting against his chest. "What happened to me?" I asked, craning my neck to look at him.

"You were about to attack Quinton but his beta was watching and informed him, and he bit you in the neck. I threw him off of you but he took a very large chunk of skin with him. Quinton then had some pack members d**g me and that's how we all ended up in here. Mia healed us all perfectly, but you've been out for the past week," he explained, his voice strained the whole time.

"A week! We've been in here a week!" I yelped. I looked up at Xander and he nodded weakly. "What about Trina!"

"They've been giving us all this shot every morning that cuts off the connection with our wolves and our mind link. We haven't been able to get a hold of him," Xander said.

"Have they been giving me the shot?" I asked. His eyes widened and he quickly shook his head no.

NATE! I shouted into my mind link.

TAYLOR! Oh my gosh is everyone alright? Nate's voice said immediately.

Yeah we're fine. They've been giving everyone a shot that cuts off the mind link and connection with those wolves. I've been out for the past week and haven't gotten it! How's Trina doing? I asked.

She hasn't been doing well. All she does is sit with Natalie on the couch all day. She doesn't do or say anything, he explained.

Okay. Tell her we're all alright and we're gonna find a way out of here, I said. I heard noises coming down the hallways. I have to go but try and keep me updated!

I quickly got back into the position I was in when I woke up minutes before. Everyone understood and nodded to me, and I closed my eyes.

"Here's dinner." Said a gruff voice. I stayed as still as possible, keeping my breathing to a minimum. I heard some crying and sniffling, along with a "she needs to wake up." I mentally praised Tessa for that.

I heard the footsteps get quieter and quieter, and then heard a metal door slam shut. "It's safe," Xander whispered.

There was a large tray outside the cell doors with ten pieces of bread, one small cup, and a jug of water on it. We all ate and then I went back to my position.

"We need to find a way out now," I said, my voice dead and serious.
