CHAPTER 7 |

His sentence dies before he finishes it. With every word he pronounced, I felt my bones break and reshape into something bigger and stronger. I feel my eyes turn this yellow, almost gold, and glowing shade. I feel Serena coming back and taking control. She’s still so weak but she’s forcing the shifting, if we can’t do it tonight, we might never shift again. It has to happen at this very moment of course, with all my luck... I want to reassure her, calm her but I can’t. I can’t even think properly, I see nothing but the moon and the stars glowing above my head. I hear people gasp and I hear Henry screaming my name.  My father is yelling orders and someone is trying to approach me. The touch would have been electrifying if only my body wasn’t numb, everything hurts on the inside. My wolf finally comes out, she has this rich and beautiful auburn fur color, her tail is huge and her ears are very prominent. I hear people gasp even more and realize that neither of us can move or take full control, Serena is on the verge of unconsciousness, and so am I. Nobody dares to approach me, in my wolf form, I can feel every single one of the wolves here, I feel their position and nobody is moving. I try to get up, Serena is in the back of my head, I don’t want her to suffer anymore. My paws are big but I feel weak I don’t have the strength to stand up anymore. I’m having trouble breathing correctly but at least it is done. I did shift. It hurt like hell, but not as much as the rejection I have faced.  I let out what sounds like a whimper. I try to take in some air but it’s freezing, it’s hurting my throat and lungs. I want to shift back. It’s taking me too much energy. I push my limits and force back a reverse shifting to take back my human form. My clothes are ripped and I am naked in the wet grass. Nothing is covering me except the gentle and soft touch of the moonlight. I want to speak, nothing comes out of my mouth. I open my eyes, the gold glow didn’t go away as I see the moon with a yellow tone.  Trying and failing to get up, I let out the weakest and most throaty sound I ever heard myself make.  That’s it, I can’t do anything anymore. The moon slowly starts to disappear above me and all I can sense is someone covering my weak and shivering body. I am being carried while I fall into the abyss.
