"Hey there, sleepyhead, you're finally up, huh? Came home late," my mom says to me and I smile and give her a kiss on the cheek.
"Mmm, this looks delicious," I say seeing the freshly made banana crumb cake she made. "Can I take a piece to Mrs. Vera?" I ask and she starts laughing.
"For the mother-in-law already?" my mom teases and gives me a playful smack on the butt as I walk by.
"Oh, stop it, mom, we just hung out, nothing serious," I say trying to shake off the memories of last night.
"Yeah, sure, and I was born yesterday," she says giving me a kiss on the cheek. "I'm off to do the boarding house supplies today," she says and I say goodbye to her. "Make sure to take some cake to your mother-in-law, okay," she says playfully and I can't help but laugh.
